Not much to see here. We made the mistake of venturing into Merida in our own and I wouldn't recommend it.

Wandered around port and town, no excursion. Large sandy beach within walking distance of free shuttle drop off but too windy day we were there. Locals loud but not pushy.

Progresso is under a lot of construction so be prepared for that. However if you don't do an excursion then you MUST take the free shuttle to the beach and get a massage. We regretted only getting the 30 min one we should have gone for the full hour. It was wonderful, peaceful, relaxing and well worth the money.

Went in to Progresso by cab and went to the public beach. Very nice beach but you will have a hard time enjoying it because of all the peddlers trying to sell you something. If you have the time/money invest in one of the excursions.

I was not impressed with Progresso. I don't know if I was the heat or the people. We just wanted to go to the beach and lay out and let the kids play in the water. But the people hassled you from the time you stepped off of the bus til we got to the beach. And the staff at the beach wasn't consistent in what they was saying. So we stayed all of 20 minutes and returned back to the ship.

We went on to Mayapan for the Mayan ruins and cave snorkel with natural river float. The tour company was great they were so informative with the history showing their passion for their culture. 1st class busses, great food was a part of the trip. Beautiful clear clear water.
