Review summary

Last minute pandemic cruise on Carnival Breeze. Overall very fun, enjoyed being on a ship not fully booked-easier to find seats and loungers.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Getting to port in Galveston was slow and tedious, flew into George Bush Intl. Spent night at nearby Hampton Inn and took shuttle back to airport for Carnival transport to cruise terminal. Was over an hour transport time, nearly 20 minutes of which was in the last mile, need more lanes in the area of cruise terminal. Once we got into terminal, were on boat in 10 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Bought the drink package and made good use of it. Surprised to see some whiskey i haven't seen on Carnival ships previously (Blanton's, Sazerac rye, and Ardbeg). Bought food from the Seafood shack for the first time- recommend it and i will do so again as well. MDR food good, never great, but always several options. Cucina and Bonzai sushi were not as good as on previous sailings.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Bar staff and servers amazing as always. Team at Alchemy was best of best in my opinion. Room steward efficient and friendly. All staff very friendly and you could see smiles even with masks.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Like sailing on the breeze, only complaint is that traveling on deck 5 front to back inside requires traveling though casino (smoky)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Interior room- clean, quiet, enough room for our stuff and a place to sleep and shower, all that is needed.

Ports of call

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

4 out of 5
Wandered around port and town, no excursion. Large sandy beach within walking distance of free shuttle drop off but too windy day we were there. Locals loud but not pushy.

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
Took carnival bus, traffic around port area was a C-F during embarkation, plan for extra time. Had time after debarkation prior to flight, visited Spindletap Brewery (Houston). Close to Bush Intl airport, good beer, friendly staff.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Quick and efficient, carried luggage off, breezed through customs and onto bus. Bus travel from port was much more organized.
