I like the port area here. The little food stand there is always very good. I've never cared much for the rest of the city in previous trips. I stayed in port area and had a fine time and bought a few things for relatives.

Not sure why reviews for this port are poor. Mazatlán was so enjoyable. Bigger city, but plenty to see and do. We did a city highlight tour/excursion.

Lovely Port! Mazatlan is a beautiful spot in the Western part of Mexico.

We went to a beach that is just a small walk away from the port (about 10 min) that is called stone island. You walk to the water taxi's called the pollettes (? on spelling) and they ferry you over and back for about $2 per person. The beach is very large and beautiful.

We actually took a van tour of this city and had a wonderful tour guide who was very knowledgable of the area. We ate a wonderful Restaurant there call El Capatain's which was very good and reasonably priced.

We did the Shrimp Feast excursion, booked from the ship. Fabulous! They pick you up and take you to a private residence, the owner was there to greet us. You select a table on the patio and sit back to relax while listening to a singer while being served drinks for the roaming waitstaff. Lunch consisted of: fresh tortillas, guacamole, salsa, refried beans, beer battered shrimp, peel & eat shrimp and garlic shrimp with rice. It was DELICIOUS and a very enjoyable ride back to the ship with a small tour along the way.

Stone Island was totally awesome!! We loved this port! We played in the surf all day, with lunch served to us under our Tiki umbrellas. Alma went above and beyond for us, actually going all over the island for us to find Pepsi. She was so nice we almost cried!! Water was about 85 degrees and perfect for playing in. I would totally recommend this to every passenger on the ship!
