Matazalan is always a crap shoot - sometimes good, sometimes not as good. Did not go ashore this time.

Great place to do your own thing. Many volunteer guides posted around town "blue shirts" to point you in the right direction

No excursions. Walked around site seeing and went to the beach.

Not a fan of this port at all. Wish they'd replace it with something else.

We did the Salsa and Salsa excursion and it was fun but took up the entire day. We only had about 45 minutes to play on the beach after the Salsa and Salsa. We would have loved more time there.

Not impressed at all, but it was likely because of the excursion we took. We did the Stone Island Beach excursion. They took us on an unnecessarily long boat ride to essentially tour the port harbor (not much to see there), then an uncomfortable ride to the beach on makeshift trams pulled by tractor. The beach and food were OK, but we were constantly hounded by hundreds of souvenir vendors. We refused to do the horseback riding because the horses were painfully thin and not well cared for.

Mazatlan was an industrial port,...not set up for tourism. Norwegian had a shopping center set up where you could buy everything from nic naks to jewelry, food and messages. However if you think you are going to walk onto a beach...think again.

Again my husband had done the zip line and he came back so excited for him that. He said he would definitely do that over and over again.

For a port that is in a poor area (beggars are everywhere) I have to admit we had a LOT of fun exploring the tourist areas. The beaches were nice, and the scenery was breath taking. We did a lot of shopping (be sure to haggle. You negotiate your own price(s) while there). The only places you don't will be in the restaurants for the most part, but most everything else we could make a deal.
