Review summary

Great cruise, great weather, very little to complain about. Would do this one again!

Embarkation

It was pretty good. The line moved quickly and we were on the ship in no time. Easy peasy compared to Carnival.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The specialty restaurants were excellent, and everything else was very good. We did not visit the buffets, but heard they were good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The on ship go kart track was really fun. We also really enjoyed the adult only pool for those who don't wish to share with screaming kiddies. The water slides looked great, but a little scary so we didn't go. Only for brave adults and teens. Younger kids should definitely stay on the kiddie slides. The layout of the pool area was great, but they crammed to many lounge chairs on the deck, creating a trip hazard and problems for those who had limited mobility. The fitness center was really nice, with great equipment and lovely views. It was often pretty crowded though, it could be a little bigger.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to Footloose and Elements and both were really excellent. All of the musical groups we saw were great, especially the Beatles tribute band at the Cavern Club.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward was amazing--he responded to every little request almost immediately. A few of the bartenders could have been a little more friendly, but they were efficient and made excellent drinks. All of the restaurant staff were also excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was clean and well maintained. It was pretty easy to navigate around the ship, with plenty of information panels and signs to help you find your way.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Everything was excellent about this cabin, except for the location. It is a big cabin with a huge balcony that had 2 chairs, a table big enough for dining, plus 2 lounge chairs! Unfortunately, it is right next to an employee entrance, so the staff were coming and going at all hours. Being right at the front of the ship, it is pretty far to the specialty restaurants, and there was a lot of wind noise that was not noticeable in other areas of the ship. On the plus side, a lot of the restaurants and clubs are on this level or the one below, so you can avoid using the elevators, which are pretty crowded sometimes.

Ship tip

Make your reservations for specialty restaurants and shows online before you get on the ship, especially if there are only 2 of you, spots fill up pretty quickly..

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

We didn't spend much time here really.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Beautiful, would visit again! We did the luxury sailing and snorkeling and it was fabulous! We did this same excursion last time we were in Cabo and liked it so much we did it again.

Mazatlan, Mexico

Not impressed at all, but it was likely because of the excursion we took. We did the Stone Island Beach excursion. They took us on an unnecessarily long boat ride to essentially tour the port harbor (not much to see there), then an uncomfortable ride to the beach on makeshift trams pulled by tractor. The beach and food were OK, but we were constantly hounded by hundreds of souvenir vendors. We refused to do the horseback riding because the horses were painfully thin and not well cared for.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Beautiful city, wish we had more time there. Did the VIP sailing and it was great!

Disembarkation

Easy, minimal lines, breezed thru customs. Hire a porter, worth spending the tip!
