Review summary

Great cruise for the money. The ship refit was very nice and the ports are worth seeing again.

Embarkation

It was a little confusing. There seemed to be little to no control over the lines to check in. People were not sure which line to be in since they snaked and crossed in front of one another.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

There were many great servers and staff members to assist you, but there were a couple of servers that seemed like we were a bother to them. Overall, it was very enjoyable. I would definitely do that cruise again.

Onboard Activities

The entertainment was excellent. There updates to the ship were great. My only criticism would be the seating in the main theater. They are small, uncomfortable, and the aisles are too narrow to try to accommodate a large gathering. The newer areas like Spice 2-O, and the atrium were very pleasing.

Some great performers and a couple exceptional singers stood out as well.

Children's Programs

No kids, lol

Service and Staff

Most everyone was friendly & smiling, but there were a few exceptions. Perhaps they were having a bad day, I don't know, so we would try to use servers we thought were more willing to serve us. One good server, in particular, was named Christian Plazas. He was EXCELLENT in the 5 O'Clock somewhere bar. He made it a pleasure to go have margaritas there whenever we felt like drinking (by the way, that bar serves the BEST margaritas on the ship, hands down!)

The refitted ship looks great!

Cabin / Stateroom

Good size room. The bathroom design is new to me and a little bigger than expected.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

Our departure port was fine. It was close to our hotel so it was easy to get in and out of the area.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Great place to visit. We booked a day pass at the Riu Palace Pacifico (all inclusive resort). It was AMAZING! The resort itself was fitting of the name. It's a palace, with luxury abounding and wonderful restaurants and pools and scenery.

Mazatlan, Mexico

For a port that is in a poor area (beggars are everywhere) I have to admit we had a LOT of fun exploring the tourist areas. The beaches were nice, and the scenery was breath taking. We did a lot of shopping (be sure to haggle. You negotiate your own price(s) while there). The only places you don't will be in the restaurants for the most part, but most everything else we could make a deal.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We did a glass bottom boat excursion to the arch. Great photo opportunity for vacation pictures. Afterwards, we shopped and stopped at a place to try the local cuisine and drinks.

Disembarkation

A little chaotic, but luckily our friends were older and had a wheelchair so they received a more expediate departure and we went with them.
