We stayed 2 nights in Venice before our cruise. We booked the Hop on Hop Off water taxi. We really could of just paid for the water bus, but I had no idea. Lots and lots of walking. I loved our hotel (The Carlton on the Grand Canal) The location was perfect. The water taxi's and gondola's stop right in front of it. I would advice upgrading your room from the lowest category. Although very beautiful and venetian, it was VERY small. Roof top dining was a great place to watch everything happening on the Grand Canal.

What a way to finish this voyage! Visiting Venice is not something to be missed. Showcased in multiple movies such as James Bond, The Italian Job, et al., it is fun to walk in the footsteps of the characters, and immerse yourself in 800 years worth of history, at the same time!

We arrived a day early and took a local water taxi out to the islands just offshore. For $20.00 we had 24 hours to island hop and get away from crowds. That was fantastic.

Fantastic arrival into the port, we were picked up from the ship by the tour boat and went to Murano for the glass factory and Burano for the lace making which was just a short demonstration in a shop.

In Venice it’s easy to be overwhelmed by how many tourists are there. I found the best way to experience it was to just to walk and explore, choosing not to follow the designated paths to the tourist attraction but to make your own way. We came to plenty of dead ends but also found so many hidden gems. As it was my first time there, there were some things on my bucket list I didn’t want to miss; taking a gondola ride, selfies with the birds in Piazza San Marco, and riding the local water taxi to Murano and Burano. I am already planning my next visit to get even further of the beaten path and really see and experience this beautiful place! Warning: Be careful when choosing a cafe in Piazza San Marco as you might have to pay an unexpected fee for the musicians.

Venice is more difficult than most ports to get to the ship. Hauling heavy luggage over the bridge and on the people mover is not easy. Then you have a long walk to the ship. Not for the mobility challenged. The trip past Venice when you depart is awesome.

Superb, a must, and the sail away was awesome with Danniella and Benjemin singing opera as we sailed out of the port past Venice.......Words do not do it justice

We stayed four days in Venice before boarding the ship so our experience will vary wildly against others but the city itself is amazing beyond words. So unique it must be experienced and seen with your own eyes. Any review or pictures do not serve this city the justice it really deserves.
