After the disappointment of not being able to get into town on the first evneing - the last shuttle bus left just after we arrived from the airport on our Viking transfer, we got into to the next day, meaning that we didn't get to experience it in the evening. The next morning had a great, if short, walking tour in the biringly cold wind which left us in the main market, however this was preceded by a fast moving glimpse of the city's Nazi history, and it was a shame that the bus barely paused for us to pictures through the windows, let alone give us a chance to step off for a few seconds to get pictures.

Very poor itinerary. Docked mid-morning. Buses left for Nuremberg in afternoon. In addition, the trip to city center included a "coach tour of the city" which basically meant we drove around the downtown area. Very little time in Nuremberg. I am sure the reason we couldnt leave until the afternoon was so that people could eat lunch. Should give the option for a bus to leave without waiting to each lunch AND drop off immediately in downtown. Absolutely poorly designed itinerary.

After docking at Roth, we went by bus to Nuremberg, it was a great tour, we got to visit the WW2 relics & then went onto the historical moated town, we were then dropped off in the town centre for free time. We loved the mix of old & modern along with the markets.

The city of Nuremberg was quite beautiful. Our guide gave us a really insightful and informative tour of some significant Nazi sites.

So glad we visited this city - we'd been here a few years ago but never got to the old town area. The castle overlooking the city was nice - wish again that we could have stayed there longer.
