We took a bus tour to see windmills, wooden shoes and Edam cheese. But our guide, Tjeerd, made it a great day, explaining everything and just being personable.

The ship takes the least expensive port. We were .6 hr away from Amsterdam and had to wait an hour and a half to get off the ship.

Took the Amsterdam on your own excursion as it provided the most time to discover the city. We were dropped off by the Central Station. Walk around or through the station. On the other side is a canal with shops on your right. Straight ahead along the canal there are several canal tours. This may be the highlight of your day if the line at Anne Frank’s house is too long. Wander to you heart’s content. We shopped and had lunch at a little sidewalk cafe around the corner from the old church which is now a museum. I ha an open face sandwich and cider.

We caught the public bus to Haarlem just had a wonder around. Nothing really interesting to say but it was inexpensive. Problems arose when we got the bus back the driver pulled over half way back & told us all to get off & that was as far as he went. Luckily we weren’t on our own lots of other cruise passengers. We stood waiting for another bus to come along (slightly panicking) but then after 10 mins the driver told us all to get back on & returned is to the port. Very strange

In Amsterdam we did a shore excursion that visited the Hermitage museum and included a boat ride. The Hermitage was interesting and the boat ride was enjoyable. Our guide was very good.

Walked about town on our own. Wished I had taken a tour out of the city. Amsterdam was dirty and nasty.

Did not do an excursion. Should have. Walked around on our own. Took the 382 bus to the train, the train into the city, and then reversed it back. It was an interesting walk. The cathedrals were beautiful, but the surrounding areas were a bit...hmm...interesting! Pretty in some areas, not so in others. Do the ships excursions and save yourself a disappointing day on your own.

Terrible. No communication of how to get to Amsterdam. From time we stepped off boat to setting foot in Amsterdam, 3 hours which included HOT bus and absolutely packed well over capacity. Same as ride home and way too early as we were scared to miss boat. This was first time NCL has made port there, and it was complete disaster. The sentiments after this port were unanimous, awful.
