Since we have been here many times, we just took the complimentary trolley around the Old San Juan.. We did some shopping in the shops of Old San Juan. Then we walked down to the harbor looking at the ships in port & doing some shopping. This area has recovered from the hurricane, at least.

Old San Juan was amazing. We chose to tour privately with a cabbie named Krisia Viera! She was precious and toured us in her immaculate, air conditioned Caravan. We met her right outside the port and she only charged us a total of $60 for 3 people! We toured San Juans beautiful highlights, beach and then lunch (our treat). We had delicious and authentic PR food and enjoyed $3 pina coladas! What a memorable day and so cheap compared to Carnivals excursions!

You don't need a cab to explore Old San Juan. Take the walk and enjoy your day. There's a Walgreen and CVS close to port for those things you realize you need. Be weary of the taxi drivers who will fight over getting you in their back seat for a $15 ea tour. You don't need (or want) them- walk it, it's very enjoyable as were the local folk we talked with throughout this stop.

I love San Juan. We walked up to El Morro, by route of Umbrella Street, but the Umbrellas were down. We stopped off at the old church then to El Morro. After El Morro we stopped by La Perla then went for lunch.

Out of all of the ports I've been to San Juan felt the most like home, I just wish we would have known about the scooter rentals around the corner because we took the bus to the beach and walked back to sightsee a little more but we still enjoyed it and the people are great. AND they have a Walgreens like a half a block from the ship.

short walk to the amazing fort. If you are a history buff, go tour it. No need for taxi...just walk

Loved this port. Lots to look at and walked for four hours! Was alone and no one bothered me. Bought several things. Very interesting. Would like to go back!

We walked all about Old San Juan (hiked about 7 miles) from the dock - visiting Fort Morro and the old walled fortress around the city was terrific. Lots of cool bars and shops and nice street scenes.
