Review summary

From embarkation to disembarkation, we had an exceptional time! This was our first cruise and had heard good and bad from others before going. The result for us- from relaxation to shows to dining to 4 different ports of call to the fantastic staff and other travelers now considered friends, we WILL be cruising again, and again, and again!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Much better than anticipated, given the stories of hours out in the hot sun etc. Smooth and seamless!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Only pizza (which is great) and ice cream were available past 11pm, aside from room service which charge a nominal fee overnight. Food was good- not great, but very good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Always something to do. And the next day's activity sheet/schedule was delivered nightly to our cabin. Coupled with the free Hub app and we always knew what, when and where.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
DJ, live bands and stage shows were themed and very good. We spent several hours in the Amber Room, White Heat, and the lobby. And the comedians were very good as well.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff made us feel better than at home. Take a minute to talk to the staff...you'll be pleasantly surprised. We made several friends in other cruisers and staff. And came back to our stateroom to a plate of choc covered strawberries with a note one night, and a bottle of wine and handwritten note another- both from staff we interacted with!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Good layout. And no matter the time of day or night, you'd be hard pressed to not see someone cleaning areas of the ship. From general housecleaning to grind and paint to rid the effects of saltwater, crews were constantly making cleanliness a priority.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Comfortable and clean. Shower is tiny, but we only spent a short time daily in there anyways. We opted for a balcony stateroom, and would never sail without at least that again. Watched the sun up each morning while enjoying my coffee on the balcony, and each port enter/exit. Loved it!

Ship tip

Get a balcony room- you won't regret the cost. Coffee, juice, water, iced tea and lemonade are offered around the clock, so don't worry about purchasing the Bubbles or Cheers package unless you're a heavy drinker. We orderred a drink (alcohol or non) anytime we wanted one and didn't come close to paying what the packages would have cost.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
Use Uber- MUCH better than cabs (and cheaper)!

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
Was our least favorite of the trip.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
You don't need a cab to explore Old San Juan. Take the walk and enjoy your day. There's a Walgreen and CVS close to port for those things you realize you need. Be weary of the taxi drivers who will fight over getting you in their back seat for a $15 ea tour. You don't need (or want) them- walk it, it's very enjoyable as were the local folk we talked with throughout this stop.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Need a diamond? This is THE place! Enjoy shopping and definitely splurge on the beach during this port call- beautiful sand and water- this was our favorite stop!

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
The port has all you need here. But, a tour and interaction with the locals will bring you a dose of this world's reality. I promise you'll leave with a greater appreciation of your life and what you are fortunate enough to have. Very beautiful port and area, but do be cautious.
