Docked in an industrial area. Passengers were only allowed to go on island via Princess excursion or government approved taxi, guide. Stayed on ship. Shopping only at port in between shipping containers for security purpose.

Pretty little port. Just what you imagine a Caribbean port to be like.

Very helpful people and good trip by taxi into the rain forest for the morning. The whale watching trip we booked from the ship was postponed from 9.45 to 1.00 and then a dive catamaran came at 2.00. By this time they had decided not to charge us - jsut as well as we only saw two porpoises and the catamaran's engines started smoking badly and we limped back to their dock and had to be bussed back to the ship.

I did the Princess sponsored excursion to Bois Cotlette to see how chocolate is made. I loved the drive (though it was about 30 in an old bus on very windy mountainous roads), and the property was gorgeous! However, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of historical information we were given on the tour. We also didn't get to actually make chocolate as advertised - we were more just told about how to make chocolate from one lady who owns the place - who also provided zero context about the history of the property or how she became the owner. It was still a beautiful location, but I would have loved a more in-depth tour. I had also considered doing a hot springs tour, but heads up - it's really hot in Dominica! So once I was there, I was glad I didn't select a host springs tour given the outside heat.
