We probably got more history lessons out of Skagway than any other port. Took the White Pass Rail, panned for gold, and enjoyed a great BBQ lunch provided through our excursion. Very interesting buildings and history throughout town. Capped things off with an Alaskan Doughboy...delicious!

Skagway is fun, plain and simple. It's what everyone thinks of when it comes to the quintessential Alaska gold rush town. Although there is a bit of history that says not a single gold nugget was ever taken from that area, but that's okay, it's still fun. Just walking around the town gives you a feel that your aren't quite in the lower forty-eight. Do not miss the Lemon Rose bakery, run there. They have some of the best sourdough bread I've ever had. First time there they were sold out, second time I was ready....no fooling around here....I called them from the ship as we were pulling in to port to reserve two loaves. Sometimes technology is your friend.

We did the luxury train. Very expensive, but it was great. Food on train was good too. Train tour guide was adorable and kept us entertained. I spent most of the ride outside on the platform. So peaceful.

This was a great town to visit. Took the Skagway street car tour and it was fantastic! Saw the whole town and heard about the history of Skagway! Highly recommend it!

Helicopter ride to land on a glacier! Our group included our nephew (eagle scout) it was his favorite hike ever. Spike boots and extra overcoats provided. Take a scarf and tons of photos!

Our first port and took the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari. On the way to the glacier we saw Orcas and Humpback whales, as well as bald eagles. Guides were so informative. Plenty of time for shopping in Skagway.

We enjoyed this port. We rode the White pass train, which was great. Wish it could have been a one way trip, though. Shopped in town and ate at the Red Onion Saloon. It was a good time, the saloon atmosphere was fun.

rented bikes from 6th (a local advised us to do this vs paying $100+ to rent from port). We rode 20 miles to and from, saw the city of Dyea, Chilkhoot trail, saw wildlife (eagles, harbor seals, etc), up and down hill beautiful scenic rides right next to the ocean and harbor. We hit a local brewery where they brew beers from their local SPruce Trees (blonde beer).
