We didn't book an excursion this trip. Instead we walked to the Great American Lumberjack Show and bought tickets for $40 as opposed to the $60 that the ship wanted. Fun and engaging show. Real lumberjacks, and lots of laughter! I'd recommend this to anyone that is looking for some fun! The shops are owned by the cruise ships, so we don't buy too much. Certainly don't get "hooked" into those jewelry stores. Had a cup of coffee at Sweet Mermaids cafe. Nice, clean, local place - always love to spend money in local businesses.

We did the Tonga forest walk. Learned a lot about the forest. Salmon hatchery and totem carvings. Didn't see any wildlife tho. Probably wouldn't due it again. Did walk creek street. Saw sea lions at mouth catching salmon. If you want authentic Alaskan gifts they are pricey but the craftsmanship is amazing. There is a small shop by the lumberjack show. Go there. Lady will give you background of the art work and folklore.
