Not fair - because this is one town that we wanted to stay longer. So question, why did we spend the time on the Fjord instead of Ketchikan. There were so much to do not enough time to do the excursions. We finally realize that the quickest one was the Lumberjacks No disappointment there. They were so much fun and engaging. The shopping was amazing. Just not enough time.

Ketchikan is such an easy city to get around in. We took an independent City/Saxman Village Tour which was reasonably interesting.

We did one of the "wildlife" tours which turned out to be a pretty lame. We were on a funky old bus that looked about 25 years old. Our first stop was a parking lot where there were some eagles we could view in the trees. Then we parked in someone's driveway (who just happened to be selling her own jams and jellies), and walked to an overpass, standing on the road. The spot we were supposed to view, was actually seen from the side of the road, with cars driving past us! Then we went to the totem pole park which was great, but we only got about 15 minutes there. By time we got back from this ridiculous tour, we only had 15 or 20 minutes to spend downtown Ketchikan. I would have preferred to spend the entire time downtown, than waste our precious time on that sorry excuse for a tour. By the way, the tour was not booked though the ship. It was booked on a website we didn't realize wasn't part of the ship's scheduled tours.
