Review summary

The ship was beautiful, clean, massive in size and yet felt like our "home" toward the last part of the cruise. We did not want to leave. I look at the pictures we took on the ship and I miss it! I loved the many places we could go, sit and look at the scenery, or sit and have a drink, or go play games or watch a show. There were so many activities and every morning we would look at the days program and decide which ones we wanted to do. Every place we went on the ship felt so luxurious and comfortable. It was like living in a beautiful little city on the water. It would be so easy to get spoiled in very short order. Everything you could want is right there to be had. Food, service, fun, drinks, swimming, games, people watching, travel, exploring new places, entertainment in many forms. We had the best vacation of our lives!

Ports of call

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did one of the "wildlife" tours which turned out to be a pretty lame. We were on a funky old bus that looked about 25 years old. Our first stop was a parking lot where there were some eagles we could view in the trees. Then we parked in someone's driveway (who just happened to be selling her own jams and jellies), and walked to an overpass, standing on the road. The spot we were supposed to view, was actually seen from the side of the road, with cars driving past us! Then we went to the totem pole park which was great, but we only got about 15 minutes there. By time we got back from this ridiculous tour, we only had 15 or 20 minutes to spend downtown Ketchikan. I would have preferred to spend the entire time downtown, than waste our precious time on that sorry excuse for a tour. By the way, the tour was not booked though the ship. It was booked on a website we didn't realize wasn't part of the ship's scheduled tours.

Juneau, Alaska

Mendenhall Glacier was a great tour. We enjoyed this excursion very much. The place where the salmon bake was held was beautiful, with a waterfall and river running through the area. We were a bit disappointed in the long lines and wait times for salmon though. When we could get it, the salmon was very good. The other food options were disappointing though. Roasting marshmellows over an open campfire in the woods was a treat.
Don't Miss: The river and waterfall at the salmon bake was beautiful.

Skagway, Alaska

We did a bus ride from Skagway to catch a train about an hour away. The train ride was enjoyable and educational.

Victoria, British Columbia

We took a double decker bus for a tour of the city. We were then dropped off downtown (our choice) and did some shopping and touring on our own.

Pros: Being on the ship, the ship "culture" was so much fun! I loved seeing a different view every morning, having so many activity options and complete freedom from every day life.

Cons: I gained 7 pounds!
