Probably my favorite port. We came in on Sunday so shops didn’t open until later. We rode the cable car up to the top of Mt. Roberts and hiked the trail. I can’t explain how beautiful this was. We ate at the restaurant up there and it was delicious and they make a fantastic Bloody Mary. We didn’t do any excursions at this port, there was plenty to do on our own.

Whale watching and Mendenhall photo safari was awesome. My only complaint is that I could have easily spent three days there.

We went to Mendenhall Glacier via the excursion bus. It was $45 pp to ride the bus to the Forest Service Welcome Center and ride back. The local bus makes the same trip and is $3 each way. The Welcome Center was excellent.

Take the aerial tram to the top of Mt Roberts. Have a drink at the Timberline Bar & Grill. That Wharf Restaurant on the waterfront is a great place to have a drink and a meal.
