When Ships Get Rerouted ...

I've been on two cruises that were unable to keep their chartered course. One of my Alaskan cruises could not go through Tracy Arm Fjord due to large icebergs that had broken off and went through Endicott instead. One cruise to Ensenada that was supposed to stop in Catalina rerouted to San Diego due to water too rough for the tenders. Both cases were decisions made based on safety of the passengers and ship. I was 100% fine with the decision.

However, the bulk of the passengers threw "hissy fits", ruined their day and tried to start a mutiny with the rest of the passengers. Have you ever been re-routed? How did you feel about it?

I have been subject to a reroute and had my 15 minutes of pout time. Then it was off to the pool and the pool side bar to change my mood. Although you look forward to that particular port(s) it is a relief to know that we are not going to risk the ship, crew and passengers because of weather.

MMMMMM. Let's see. Listen to the Captain about safety or Do a cruise by like the Concordia...

Yea.... Let the whiners whine.... I'll have a drink in the safety of the lounge....

I have not had a diversion as of yet but if I did. I would go with the flow and deal with it. Whiners will never win so its a waste of their time.
