What to do in place of a cruise?

Hello fellow cruisers! We finally made the decision we are definitely not cruising this winter although we have the past 7 winters and now we're scrambling trying to figure out what else we can do! We like to go south once a winter and it typically has been to hop on a big boat with a bunch of cool people and have a great time!

Anyone have plans or ideas of fun winter vacations to escape the cold?

The leaves should be very colorful at that time. Hopefully you will have a great time.

Been looking at some destinations, but many of the places we'd like to visit are restricting travelers , Outdoors activities like camping seems to be the most normal thing one could do.

Hope you enjoy your stay!Big Smile

I replaced our October cruise with a cabin in the Smoky Mountains.

In good weather, I usually play "Tourist" in my home state and do everything the tourists do that I've never done!

Okay, so our November cruise was cancelled. We rebooked it for Jan 2022, as it is the same ship and itinerary. Our Feb cruise was with a group and they cancelled. Now we are in the process of booking a cruise for March. Hopefully that will give them time to work the kinks out of starting back up.

Rent a private house with a washer and dryer (and maybe with a private heated pool and/or an outdoor fireplace or fire pit) in Scottsdale, Arizona (Phoenix is a major hub for American and Southwest) or Palm Springs to get outdoors in the sun. Lots of areas for walks, hikes, and photography. As others mentioned, bring Lysol wipes. Supermarkets will be open and restaurants should have outdoor distanced dining and takeout. Good luck!

I have had 2 cruises canceled and a visit to family. So far I'm being good and staying home, I had a tank of gas last over 2 months.

I keep trying to think of where to get away, but why pay to sit in a hotel room since you can't do anything. It would be the same as being home, TV or Amazon Prime.

Last week I went to the bank, I put on a concert T-shirt from 2015 and the teller and I chatted, Both wearing masks and through plastic divider about how that was a different world then today is. Crying The concert was great, Outdoor theater (The Hollywood Bowl) under the stars, in the "Super Seats" with a picnic dinner of Sushi, fruit and a good bottle of wine. So much we took for granted is gone.

We have had three cruises cancelled on us this year. So far I have been sitting at home watching reruns of Dream Cruises on TV. It is fun, but nowhere near the fun of an actual cruise. Our next cruise is scheduled for Feb. 20 and I am hoping and praying that it doesn't get cancelled, too.

We had planned on flying down to NOLA for a few day in December mostly for the food. Right now the south is a hot spot so we waiting until middle/end of October to make our final decision. I usually take 3-4 vacations a year but this year nothing and I'm having withdrawals. I NEED TO TRAVEL !Crying
