What to do in place of a cruise?

Hello fellow cruisers! We finally made the decision we are definitely not cruising this winter although we have the past 7 winters and now we're scrambling trying to figure out what else we can do! We like to go south once a winter and it typically has been to hop on a big boat with a bunch of cool people and have a great time!

Anyone have plans or ideas of fun winter vacations to escape the cold?

Winter escapes are on hold for us this year and for the forseeable future til the world gets a grip on this Covid-19. We will staycation in our beautiful province til then.

Good luck with your search. Hope it works out for you.

I'd rather escape covid than worry about the cold...for us, social distancing is a normal occurance when you live in the back of beyond...

But good luck in your search anyway....

Have you thought of camping? Rent a cabin in the woods or mountains ? Packing in your food and kitchen wears to cook at the rental and cleaning supplies to clean when you get there (for years I have take Lysol wipes on a cruise to wipe down all areas of the cabin I'd touch ) Keep in mind if things do not get batter there will not be any restaurants, movies, museums, attractions or shopping malls open. It may be just you in a rental with nothing much to do. I'm holding off on any traveling until things settle down.

Thank you all for your wisdom! You are right. I think it depends where we are at with COVID. A cabin does sound nice though Happy

Sit around and mope. Happy We have a B2B booked for February. It will be very disappointing if this goes on that long.

Realistically, our NOV 20 exists...but its VERY unlikely they'll sail, or we'll be on it if they do. and fwiw, I don't see any reason for this to abate by JAN/FEB/21 either, which would be our next one, and we're looking forward to that one even more than NOV......remember when folks were saying it wouldn't survive in the winter??? hmmmm....or summer, or whatever...tough lil bugger ain't it??

We got our August trip cancelled, not looking good for January. We have a pop up camper and Texas is warm in winter, so we are going to go to a few state parks near by. We will bring our alcohol and drink making book, cook a few steaks on our outdoor steak house, bring some comedy movies for our punchliner using a projector for the dive in movie part. Some state parks have lakes, so our pool time, minus the "p" will be there minus the crowd. Will miss the cruise, but got to go to plan b

Our Nov 3 cruise hasn't cancelled yet either, but I don't see how it can't not be.

But I was thinking about the original question today. We always cruise in February. We live in the beautiful north woods of WI, as you know. We get lots and lots of snow and below zero temperatures and it is kind of nice to get away from that for a couple weeks. About 20% of our town leaves for most of the winter months. So, if those February cruises don't happen, what do we do? Where can we go? Our dog sitter is lined up, so that isn't an issue. Do we fly somewhere else? Just go to the port city and hang out there? Drive some place?

Why not go someplace warm? It seems like the thing to do.
