What One Piece of Advice Would You Offer a First Time Cruiser?

i read many reviews of first time cruisers and am so surprised at how clueless they are about what happens on cruises. They spend a lot of money yet don't take the trouble to find out what to expect. Then they are dismayed and shocked at what they didn't expect.

What advice would you offer to newbies about to take their first cruise?

When taking a first cruise, one should do into it with an open mind and not be looking to find faults with anything that moves. You are on holiday and just relax and take everything in. The enjoyment should be when discovering where everything is on the ship when you board and start to wander round. It seems to me like a lot of people want to purposely find fault with things just to have a right old moan. Just chill and enjoy

I do suspect however, that new cruisers would not even know how to check a deck plan to discover what is above or below. It is only recently that I discovered a web site where you can show the deck plans on top of one another. Most deck plans that passengers would look at would probably only provide the information of cabins on that deck and nearness to lifts and stairs etc.

First and foremost -- check out the ship's deckplan before booking a cabin -- never above, below or next to a nightclub, open deck, galley or "gray area".
