We’re Done

Just cancelled our two Jan 2021 cruises and rented a lake house in Florida. After 23 cruises I think we are done. Not sure we’ll ever get past the “ick” factor of the elevators, buffet, etc. I’ve decide that I like being at least 6’ from people. Will we miss it? Absolutely! But it will never again be what it once was. Sayonara 😷

Sad to see the OP go, but honestly I feel more comfortable travelling on a ship than a plane. On a plane, you're stuck in one compartment, on a ship, at least you can get out on a deck somewhere! Sure you will be on a ship with 5,000+ of your closest friends, but at least you can move around the ship and socially distance!

Airlines def are more of a worry for me. Fortunately I can make any port on the east coast or Gulf within 24 hours by car, and we are both young enough that a 24hr car ride is a possibility. For Galveston, we could also stop to visit friends in Memphis.

The constant cleaning I have witness on previous RCI cruises leaves me very confident of their ability to keep the ick factor down.

We were supposed to be away last week, and be on our sea days home now. Oh well. Got a good price on a TA next August. 14 day Celebrity to Greenland & Iceland. It only works for us because we can’t fly the 6 hours home from Southampton. Fortunately, we get to England the same day the QM2 sails for NY (7 more days).

We have a B2B European vacation (from Venice) in Jun '21, but high probability we'll move that reservation to closer US waters. Feel comfortable about the ships but don't want to spend that much time on an airline to get there and back. So would defer Europe for another year.

Always keep hoping and keep on looking for opportunities.

Sorry bout that...but from reading your posts past month or so it seems like you half expected it, and were preparing yourself for it. Good way to be....we're "there" ourselves for NOV...there are moments when I'm 90% convinced it won't be fun and isn't worth the risk...THEN the addiction takes over.....

Can't put a like to this, because that's sad.Sad

Ours is no longer listed. In fact looks like NCL has cancelled and re-scheduled a raft of cruises. Could see their web sight changing today and I understand an announcement is pending. Looks like mine will be officially cancelled .... time to start looking for the next opportunity and hope.

As soon as cruising is back, we’ll be aboard! Big Smile
