Shoes and Purses - who needs em?

On my first cruise, I took several pairs of shoes and purses only to find that 1) Didn't need a purse on board just my cruise card (no need to carry credit cards, id, etc.) and 2) never wore most of the shoes I brought because I opted for comfort.

Future cruises I looked forward to being "purse free" and carrying either a neck badge holder / bungi for my cruise card or a very small wristlet.

I take my old back pack (left over form collage days), 1 pair gym shoes, 1 pair water shoes and 1 pair dark shoes for the mdr.

I will take 2 pairs of gym shoes (in case on gets wet), 1 pair of dress shoes and 1 pair house shoes. I don't tote a purse at home and havent the tote to carry one on a cruise.

I have learned the lesson as well...One "fancy" pair of shoes for formal nights, One pair of sneakers for excursions/gym (if I partake) and then flip flops!!! I will be adding water shoes though for my September cruise... Its hard to leave a purse behind, so I opt for a cross shoulder bag (feels more secure when in ports) or a clutch... just because of phone and card/spare money for tips.

I carry a sling bag instead of a purse, so that I can carry it on my back. I have my passport and put any credit cards and money in with my passport. Sadly, I take more than 1 pair of shoes. I have to have variety.

I take a cross shoulder bag on excursions which holds a water bottle, passport etc, and a small bag that I sometimes take to dinner in case I want my phone for the camera and my S&S card. For shoes, I have one pair of dress, a couple of pair of sandals and a couple of pair of flip flops for the beach plus one pair of closed toe shoes since we travel to the cruise port from our wintery home.
