Shoes and Purses - who needs em?

On my first cruise, I took several pairs of shoes and purses only to find that 1) Didn't need a purse on board just my cruise card (no need to carry credit cards, id, etc.) and 2) never wore most of the shoes I brought because I opted for comfort.

Future cruises I looked forward to being "purse free" and carrying either a neck badge holder / bungi for my cruise card or a very small wristlet.

I did the same on my first cruise...now I opt for a small cross body purse and flip flops

I myself bring too many shoes and bags with me. But, I do use them all. I have never been over-weighted, though. Luckily my husband travels light so I put my excess in his bags with his knowledge, of course.

I'll admit I'm a shoe-aholic! If I could, I would have a pair of shoes for every outfit... but not practical. For a cruise I've cut back...1pr. dress flat sandals, 1pr. casual sandals, 1pr. walking shoes, 1pr. for dress heels, 1pr. close-toed just in case we do the behind the scenes, slippers & 1pr. beach wear. I know it sounds like a lot, but it is less than when I started cruising. I have a purse that I use when I fly that holds my wallet, kindle, breath mint, kleenx, etc. While on the ship I usually have no pockets, so I have a lanyard. When we dress-up, I have a small purse that holds S&S card, and not much else. I have shopping/beach bag for ports of call. So, yes, I am a shoe, purse & clothes hog.

Sure, if I had a steamer trunk I might throw in some options, but that isn't how we roll. I bring a small across shoulder pouch for dinner and after dinner activities. I bring a beach tote for day time jaunts or just being on deck. Cannot be bothered trying to pull off a fashion show every night of a voyage... and no one else really cares about what I wear much either :)

Okay, just realized Amy almost never caries a purse when we travel – she just hands me whatever she wants to have with her. Normally it’s just ID and a credit card, but still, I am the purse!!! Angry

Big SmileYour a good man! I'm always the "lady pack mule" for my family. However with that being said.... I'm making sure that this Christmas everyone is getting the perfect tools they will need for cruising so that I will be "hands free" in the future! Wink

I use a cross body for the ship and port. I also use a tote bag if going poolside and depending on my port activity.

Shoes - here's my problem. Sneakers, flip flops, sandals (3-4), dress shoes (2) depends on # of outfits.

I do really good in the shoe dept. I just wear my sneakers to board the ship and then pack a couple of pairs of sandals, one which can double for formal night. Water shoes for excursions, and that's about it for shoes. I have a small cross-over purse that is usually always with me that has meds and my camera in it. Happy

Shoes - One pair of dress shoes, one pair of flats and two or three pairs of sandals, depending on the length of the cruise. I wear my sneakers when traveling to/from port.

Handbags - lanyard for ship time, cross-body bag for shore, one evening bag, one beach tote.

I did make the addition of water shoes on my last cruise because we did a waterfall climb... they were needed especially when I saw a man trying to climb in sandals!
