Revised Room Decoration Policy

Just read that Carnival has revised their room and door decoration policy. Even thoug I've never decorated, I do enjoy looking at the doors that are decorated.

Do you decorate your door or room?

On Princess, if you fill out the online thing ahead of time about what you are celebrating, they post an announcement and balloons on your door. Then I write something on it ... Like the last cruise that said Happy Retirement ... I wrote, NOT - Get to work and bring me cookies in bed.

Door Decor From 2016

My door on the Koningsdam

I always decorate my door. I make up a sign not fire retardant with the photo of the ship and the name of the cruise & port. This way I find my way home. Recently, on my Dec cruise on the Koningsdam, I put this site's swag up on my door. I had some curious neighbors asking about it. I hope that they joined the site. The site should look into using fire retardant material for it.

I'll be taking one with me and pin a note on it saying flame retarded (retarded... Isn't that non PC) on it.

Sad We need a thumbs down for posts that are sad.

No more Pirate Flags are allowed to be displayed? Dang It.

A lady who cruises exclusively on Princess posted a number of pictures of door decorations. Here is a sampling. Although these are the more elaborate variety, it pretty much confirms what we have been seeing more and more of. As I mentioned, we were on Pacific Princess in November and December, I bet one out of every four doors on our corridor had some sort of decoration.

First time I recall taking notice of door decorations was just before Halloween on the Amsterdam in 2007, embarking at Singapore. I was impressed that the guests who did that appeared pretty jovial and seem to be having a lot of fun.

After that, on occasion, wife takes some stuff, mostly if we cruise over holidays--Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and particularly Halloween. Major sporting events like the super bowl and world series really attract a lot of attention as well. We don't do much of it at all and none for sports, anniversary and birthdays.

It appears to me that this practice is on the increase though. We were on the Pacific Princess in the Mediterranean and then a TA over Thanksgiving, disembarking just before Christmas, that was the most I have ever seen in the way of decoration, it was a lot.

I would have thought that this subject would be rather mundane, but over on C.C. they had a similar thread recently and some posters, who didn't like the decorations, got downright nasty. Made some of their smoking or formal dress threads seem tame. LOL

That policy change was from several months ago. I only remember seeing one other door decorated in our 4 cruises, so I guess I've missed them.

I've only placed a couple of small removable, non marking Canadian flags on our door and Mail holder.
