Hi All,
My husband and I are looking at the 10 night Princess Ruby cruise November 30 from Fort Lauderdale. We've never sailed princess before. We have sialed Carnival and Royal. We're very low key people. We're not big drinkers or partiers. We're early 40s. We're basically looking for a cruise to relax and see some new sights. Can we get some reviews on the Ruby Princess? How would you compare it to Carnival and Royal? Pros/Cons?
Thanks!
Hi we sailed on The RP in January and I had been a little bit worried as I didn't think the reviews were great, but we were actually really pleased with our experience.
I have to qualify this though and say it was our first cruise and so not really anything to compare it with but we enjoyed our time and know it will be even better next time knowing a bit more about what to expect.
As you we are quiet and not big into the social side of stuff and I would say at times it felt a bit noisy, but I think we could have found better spaces and places for a bit of a quieter time but we just never really seemed to get the time.
There were plenty of activities we really enjoyed some shows, comedians (seats get taken very quickly as they are not huge venues), talks, information sessions.
There was other stuff based around the pool areas that was more of a party vibe but too noisy for us.
We didn't use the pools they were busy enough but not overcrowded I didn't think.plenty if small bar areas to sit in.
The staff were amazing very attentive.
The accommodation whilst maybe a tad dated was very spacious and comfortable and spotlessly cleaned.
There were numerous eating options some free some attracted a cost. We didn't get round them all. Preferred the informal big buffet areas although the quality of the food was probably a little compromised. Plenty of variety though and I especially enjoyed the breakfast. There were more formal free dining options which we did try a couple of times and it was definitely a restaurant experience but we were really happy with the buffet.
The only thing I would say is the free drinks werent great the ice tea and lemonade were horrific, water free, filter coffee (okish) free and good tea options. We didn't pay for a drinks package so we're happy to pay (I think $5) for a daily speciality coffee.
All in all we really enjoyed our experience and can't wait to go back...but as I say nothing else to directly compare to.
Regards
