Free Cruises Comped by the Casino

How it works: Your cruise card is used to earn "points" while you play. Once inserted, you set up a pin and then do one of two things: a) insert cash or b) charge a specific amount to your room. When you remove your card from the machine, the "cash" left on the machine posts to your cruise card. This does not apply back to your room charge! You may then take the cruise card to the cashier and get your money off it and/or move to another machine and download "cash" from your "bank" on the card to the new machine. The machines do not give you tickets.

I usually set a gambling budget of around $200 for a one week cruise. I do not play max bet - I play conservatively at first but may play for a long time especially late at night. I move around and when I win, I usually upload the money to my cruise card, take the card out and download a nominal amount and start again.

You usually need around 1000 points to qualify for the drawing and/or receive a letter the last day offering you a "free cruise" and sometimes cash.

If you frequent the casino often, they will usually comp you a meal at a specialty restaurant and free drinks. I have had them send chocolate covered strawberries to my room. Again, I am not a high roller, just a consistent player.

I finally received a casino offer: $500 off! The small print says off standard price... so after all is said and done I saved $50. Fortunately, I read the small print before I called my PVP and wasn't surprised.Wink

My wife and I have been offered 2 "free" cruises for 2ppl on two separate occasions about 1 year apart. This was sponsored by "Casinos at Sea" (NCL). These were both for free inside cabins, but you could upgrade to a balcony for $350 ea. Still a bargain, IMO. We had each played a couple grand on a previous (1st) cruise w/NCL, so they must have "tagged" us then, LOL! Funny thing is, on that 1st NCL cruise, they upgraded us from a balcony, to an awesome rear-facing 1-bdrm Suite! So now we're heading out on our 4th w/NCL.

Now that's the way it should work.... but I never spend that much.Big Smile

So did you get any offers when you were on the ship?

No, that always happens (with us) a few months after the cruise by mail. Although we have been approached by the casino host(ess) for a freebie, but never make that decision on the spot.

I love to play in the casino, I will try my luck for the free cruise.

Never did but maybe.........

Nice summary. Been waiting for an experienced commentary on this for some time - thanks!

I don't spend enough to get free drinks in the casino, so I doubt I'll ever get a free cabin.
