It's the Ports!(for us). Been on Celebrity, Royal Carribean, Carnival, Princess, and NCL cruises. There's good and not so good experiences on all these Cruise Lines. NCL's "Casinos at Sea" has been good to us with free cruises, etc., and we finally made NCL's "Platinum" last year. Love seein' the World, and when we find a particularly nice port, we often fly back to stay awhile.

February 2020 - 10 Night Southern Caribbean (New York Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Gem

Wonderful ports.

Funny how the clientele differs depending on where you embark. We did this ship for 31 days total- the first 21 days out of S.F. had ~5 kids total, then the 2nd part of 10 days out of NYC had 600 kids! LOL!

January 2020 - 21 Night Panama Canal Eastbound (San Francisco To New York) Cruise on Norwegian Gem

Great itinerary, and a nice ship

We loved the fact that out of ~2400 passengers, there were only about 5 kids onboard. Long cruises are like this.

Norwegian Sun

September 2019 - 5 Night Bahamas (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Hurricane Dorian disaster barely prevented us from arriving...

OK, this is a review not of the ship, or sailing, or ports, etc., but of the way this horrible disaster was handled by NCL. Firstly, we are so sad, and our heartfelt sympathy & condolences go out to the great people of the Bahamas had to suffer so horribly through this Hurricane Dorian mess... That being said, on to how we were "handled" by NCL. We had decided (first time) to utilize NCL's "Free or Reduced Air" offer to get to the Port Canaveral Embarkation Terminal. Our multi-legged flights(13 hrs.) from Tucson, AZ was to begin the day BEFORE embarkation as NCL's flights involved 3 legs with some long lay-overs at each stop. As the Hurricane approached FLA, we became more and more worried that we were flying into a "nightmare'. 2-hours before we were to board the plane in Tucson to begin the 13 hour(!) journey, we heard the Airports in FL were closing, and the Port Canaveral was being evacuated. 1-hour before boarding, still no word from NCL about cancellation. Then heard that everything, and everybody in FL were evacuating the affected areas, and that our ship(Sun) was redirected to Cozumel to wait out the storm. Still no word from NCL about OUR Cruise, other than NCL was in touch with the Coast Guard to see when it's safe to return. Finally, 5 minutes(!) before boarding the plane, we were told they cancelled the whole cruise. Phew! Talk about Last Minute! We thanked God we used NCL's Air, which made the cancellation process easier and almost cost free, and our only inconvenience was the 1 & 1/2 hour car trip to the Airport. Remember, if WE would've called in to cancel minutes before that "last-minute" announcement by NCL, it would've cost us big-time. So NCL came through in the very end, and our inconvenience pales in comparison to the suffering of the Bahamas.

Carnival Breeze

October 2018 - 7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Breeze

Wouldn't do it again...

We didn't choose this itinerary for the ports- Other than PR, it was disappointing.

Norwegian Star

April 2018 - 14 Night Panama Canal Westbound (Los Angeles To Miami) Cruise on Norwegian Star

meh.

Do another Ship. The Star is riddled with issues. We had a long "listing" event that scared even the staff that thought we were tipping over! The pool emptied out all over the deck flooding the 12 floor, and spilling water falls down to the 11th level. Things slid off the tables everywhere. The Capt. claimed it was human error, but I've rtead that the Star's stabilizers are defective and always needing repairs.

Loved (most of) the Baltics!

NCL did a good job on this cruise. The baltic area is beautiful. The Itinerary was jam-packed and requires some effort to maximize your experience. Phew!

Cruise tips

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Did NCL's "Fiesta Latina" which was a short bus trip to a small theater to watch/listen to a Spanish-style guitar Virtuoso play w/ Flamenco dancers! It was truly awesome!

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

One of our faves! Got an awesome "Couples full body" 1 hr. massage for Two- $50 total + tip! Then hung out at Capt. Tony's for seafood, guacamole and cold beer! Awesome!

Norwegian Gem

Norwegian Sun

Norwegian Sun

Been on the Sun previously- we liked it overall.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

The port wasn't bad, just the terrible ship's excursion- DON'T use Carnival's "St. John/Trunk Bay Snorkel" excursion- Ripoff!

George Town, Grand Cayman

Loved this port, did Capt. Marvin's excellent 3 stop snorkeling. Found "DA Fish Shack" wonderful beach front restaurant.

Norwegian Star

Norwegian Star

Don't.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Used to love going to Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina. Last time we went there (2017) it was filled with families and their screaming. crying kids, menu prices have gone way up! We turned around and left immediately. So disappointed.
