Hey everyone, my boyfriend and I will be setting sail on Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas ship on Sep 10th leaving out of Puerto Rico. We are very excited! This will be a first for both of us. Any advice or helpful tips for first time cruisers would be greatly appreciated! Look forward to meeting those on the same cruise as us!

We budget 100.00 per day per person for booze. this included wine at dinner, speciality cocktails and beer by the pool. We have been pretty close on our cruises with the tips included.
If we rebook our Bermuda Cruise we will get a free drink package per person. So that may be worth it. I can't wait to see what RCI will be offering for drink packages with the Cruisline cruise.
Now there lies my concern, I don't consider myself a "drinker", but I'm afraid those pretty little fruity drinks might start grabbing my attention more often than I realize and I may turn into a drinker! lol Guess I'll just roll the dice!
Keep in mine that most of your days are port days when you are not on the ship but if you buy the drink card you still have to pay for it for those days. We normally do not buy the drink card. We have found that at the end of the cruise the total spent on drinks is a lot less than it would have been for drink card.
If you are a drinker, the drink package is helpful and sometimes they have sales. I cruised pre drink packages and post drink packages.... Get the drink package if you are a drinker lol

Ok noted! I've been reading a lot! My worry is the extra charges (I.e. My drink bill). Any tips on that? Better to purchase a drink card ahead of time?

There are a lot of tips... "don't pack too much".... "try new things".. but they all can be boiled down to: GO... RELAX... ENJOY...... Repeat.
Do not worry about impressing others with your fancy "elegant night clothes"... Dress and act for yourself!!! It is YOUR vacation... YOUR cruise...
ENJOY!!! You will be hooked.

Take a picture of your cabin card. If you lose your camera, they will be able to get it back to you.
Great idea! I'll be sure to do this! Thanks!
Do not try and do everything that the ship offers. Everyday you will get a paper in your cabin with the lay out of what is going on at what time. Pick the things you want to do or pick to do nothing and lay out by the pool. The Adventure of the Sea's is a good ship, I spent 2 weeks on her doing a transatlantic and had plenty to keep my busy with 8 sea days. Relax and have fun

The two things I've seen people argue about the most on a cruise is booze and gambling. I think the drink card needs a hefty amount of drinking to cost justify the daily price but if you drink a lot, may be worth it. You are usually allowed a bottle or two of wine to bring on board so you may want to do that. All the ports usually have reasonably priced drinks - enjoy your cocktails there.
