First Time Cruisers looking for helpful tups

Hey everyone, my boyfriend and I will be setting sail on Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas ship on Sep 10th leaving out of Puerto Rico.  We are very excited!  This will be a first for both of us.  Any advice or helpful tips for first time cruisers would be greatly appreciated!  Look forward to meeting those on the same cruise as us!

Pack water shoes for excursions, book with the cruise line for excursions as they will ensure your back to the ship in time, select any time dining as you might not be hungry at your alotted time, and most importantly, have fun and take lots of pictures!

Stop right now !!!!!!

Don't go on a cruise.!!!!!!

Warning Warning Warning.........

You will enjoy it so much you will want to do it again and again......It is addictive.

Oh what  the heck......Have fun , relax, have a couples massage, celebrate being together. and post lots of pictures when you come back.Big Smile

When you read reviews.  Do NOT read to deep into negative ones.  They are mostly from people who are cheap and difficult to please and have no business on a cruise ship.  Remember..... A cruise ship is NOT your living room.  It's a cruise ship and have fun.  Oh.... misbehaved children will be there.  Not the lines fault but the fault of the parents.

Hi there and welcome to the cruising addiction. There are a lot of helpful hits and tips on this thread

Hahahaha that made me laugh!  Thanks for the info!  We are very excited!

Ok noted!  I've been reading a lot!  My worry is the extra charges (I.e. My drink bill). Any tips on that?  Better to purchase a drink card ahead of time?

You may also want to narrow the scope of the discussions that you see as there is a category called crusing 101 which can be most helpful and is at this url

And of course ask any questions you have as we have lots of friendly peeps here that love to help

Cheers,

Drinks will depend on what and how much you drink as to whether a drink card should be bought. Some like it just for the convenience. Check your cruise line as each has different packages (soda, beer and wine, all drinks etc) and each has different pricing but if your unlimited drink package is say $60 a day but you only figure you will drink 3 drinks a day ( I usually gauge $10 a drink) then your better off without the package but if throughout the day you will consume more than 6 or 7 drinks then it might be worth your while. Keep in mind drink packages are sold on a per day basis but for the entire cruise so you also pay for it on port days. Mostly just a matter of crunching the numbers.

Life isn't perfect and neither are cruises.  Don't let the small stuff ruin your day.

Best advice right there!  Well said Keywest1.  Just go with the flow!
