Did anyone know about this?

This fire on the Island Princess happened about three weeks ago but I just read about it now. I wonder how often these things happen but the cruise lines do their best to keep the news suppressed since it's a negative media hit?

It is interesting to think about all the ships at sea, cruise, freighters, military, from a multitude of countries, and also the private boats, and there are hardly any incidents of note out there.

It's funny how "rumors" start circulating on a ship (our last cruise appeared to have issues with the stabilizers) ... I feel absolutely certain that if there is a situation that impacts everybody, they will handle it appropriately.

I always put into perspective the number of cruise ships that are out and about on any given day, 365 days a year and the number of "emergencies" they probably encounter ... not their first rodeo ...

I think your right. They don't want to scare people off either.

If you are ever on a ship, and someone dies, don't even bother asking anyone on staff about it. You won't get any info. None.

I think that there is a whole lot that goes on that we don't hear about ... we're on a need to know basis and most things, they just think we don't need to know....

Hadn't heard about it. Fortunately no significant damage and no injuries.
