Did anyone know about this?

This fire on the Island Princess happened about three weeks ago but I just read about it now. I wonder how often these things happen but the cruise lines do their best to keep the news suppressed since it's a negative media hit?

I haven't heard about it.

That's why I only read it once a week or so. I've also gotten to the point of checking "the type of incident" first to see if I want to bother with more detailed information. However, I no longer check it daily as I once did.

OMG! Those reports got me depressed!!! Crying The worst ones are the crimes, including murder and rape. Then there are the idiots who inconvenience people on board and are put off at the next stop. The worst was a bozo who screwed everyone on the ship. He deployed the HAL Ryndam's anchor and then went topside and threw a rescue bouy overboard. He caused the ship to stop for over 5 hours and also everyone had to muster for a count after the bouy was spotted. So glad 99.99% of the people on board are "chill".

Yes, things like thi happen often and we don't hear about them . Thank for the information.

Thanks for the link

Interesting collection or reports. But I can certainly see it getting depressing spending too much time reading through those. Thanks for the link.

I tend to read "events at sea" on cruise junkie website to keep up with these things, Sometime I get so frustrated with the situation that I quit reading for weeks at a time. Like the law suits from someone who decided once they arrive home that I should sue the cruise line because "I fell in the wet area by the pool and the cruise line should have told me that I might fall on a wet deck:" Well... duh! Or, "I got a sunburn on my cruise, the cruise line should have told me that if I stayed in the sun without sunscreen I would get burned. They should have provided my with sunscreen so this would not have happened!" Please people get a grip!

Interesting that it's a photo of a Carnival ship in the article.

As long as the passengers were notified, and they were, I can understand things like this not making news headlines.

Cruise lines keep guest like mushrooms............. Kept in the dark and fed B.S. I think they learned it from world governments.

I have not.
