Basic Help

Hi All

I have just joined cruise line to find out more information about my 1st cruise next year and how to get the best out of excursions and generally be more prepared before boarding . Am I on the wrong site as I can't find a single piece of information about cruises sailing from San Francisco. Our cruise line is Princess Cruises if this helps anyone to guide me to the correct section.

Thanks

Awww!! And you're one of the folks who helped me learn from the very first. Thanks in a large part to you, I decided to look beyond Carnival, even though I am perfectly happy with them.

One RCCL cruise done, another booked, and.....NCL Escape to Bermuda end of September.

Bull****.......your answers are as good as anyone else’s. You’re no newbie anymore. I remember when you were a newbie.

You have found an amazing group of people who love to help (enable) others develop an addiction to cruising Big Smile

Even with 10 cruises sailed and 2 more booked, I'm just a newbie compared to lots of folks here.

Welcome to the forum, and ask away!!

Hi

Thank you for your reply's

We have booked early to try and build up enough knowledge for out first ever cruise and get the best experience's possible form the holiday. I am really unfamiliar with ships and not convinced this is the holiday for me as I prefer to fly to my destination and remain on land , however my wife is petrified of flying and knows she has no other choice if she want to see and visit country's outwith the UK , so this year it is my turn to make the sacrifice and take this cruise that she has chosen for her 50th birthday. I would be thankful for some advice and information on the cabin I have booked on the Princess Grand. I thought it would be better selfishly for myself to be as far away from sea level as possible so have booked the Lido Deck L202. This room will be at the end of the corridor with only one other room attached to it. Its seems to me to be a perfect location but maybe you guys and stop me in my tracks and advice otherwise. Many Thanks

Welcome to cruiseline. Like all before me you have questions ask away. Chances are someone here can answer them. I have sailed on Princess often and out of San Francisco twice on the Grand Princess. Darn now I’m hungry for Clam Chowder in a sourdough bowl. Yummy!

I live across the bay from San Francisco and have sailed on Grand Princess out from pier 27. I might be able to answer some questions about the port. I can't answer any parking questions since I always take the BART train when I go there.

Here is a link to short reviews about the port of San Francisco:

https://cruiseline.com/port/u-s-pacific-northwest/san-francisco-california#reviews

& if you scroll down there is a listing of Princess cruises that leave from there. Enjoy your cruise. if you have a specific questions about cruising, ask away. We will try to help you.

Although many of us use Carnival a lot, most of us have been on several different lines and many different ports, so at least one of us should have answers to your questions. One answer that I have never seen on this board is "Use the Search function". We are a civil group that understands that sometimes a new thread on a topic is often better than a resurrected thread where the information may be outdated.

Or, in short, don't be afraid to jump in with your questions -- like Motel 6, "We'll keep the light on for you"!Big Smile

I looked under Reviews for cruise ports and there is nothing for San Francisco. If you have specific concerns or questions, please ask so anyone with knowledge of this port can be more helpful.

The first cruise is so exciting (actually each cruise is pretty exciting) because absolutely everything is so new to us. I hope you enjoy the planning and learning all about it, leading up to the day you finally get to board your ship.

Many Thanks

I was beginning to think this forum was for a specific cruise line only. I will surf through questions posted and try to get the information I need before asking for advise

Many Thanks
