Basic Help

Hi All

I have just joined cruise line to find out more information about my 1st cruise next year and how to get the best out of excursions and generally be more prepared before boarding . Am I on the wrong site as I can't find a single piece of information about cruises sailing from San Francisco. Our cruise line is Princess Cruises if this helps anyone to guide me to the correct section.

Thanks

Speaking of Alcatraz and other attractions there, look online for schedules and tickets. If you plan on staying a while before or after your cruise I wouldn’t buy through the cruise line, cheaper on your own and many of the most popular places are grouped relatively close to each other. Buy and schedule ahead since many of those places are very popular.

I’ve never been to Alcatraz even though I was born in San Francisco and have lived in the area my whole life. Prisons and their history don’t interest me but if your interested there’s plenty of opportunities to get over there, just book early. I recommend doing one of the boat tours around the bay.

There’s Bourbon?

GrandmaJo, have you been into the Kentucky bourbon? There’s no smiley face on the post on my iPad (but I did see one in the middle of BAK’s post on another thread a couple of days ago) LOL

I can see the random smiley on your post LOL I was wondering what everyone was talking about re the smiley glitch.

I have had a room on the Lido of several ships and have never had a problem with noise.

If you have an exterior door right next to your room, you may experience some banging, but not as much as you may think -- those doors are mainly used by the Lido deck residents. The elevator crowd will have their own door towards the center of the deck.

I had a look at the ships layout and it appeared to me that the lift was not close too our room which it what we would prefer. Have I chosen a room that will be

1.To noisy

2 Too close to the pool

3 Too close the lift and overall human traffic.

4. Will all the passenger have to walk past out room to get to the pool. I thought our room was at the end of a corridor.

The reason I ask is that we have plenty of time to change the room

Many Thanks

Across the Bay ? That would be Alcatraz Big Smile

Any room on the Lido, to me, is the best choice. The higher the number, the more to the center of the boat you are, so 202 shouldn't get a whole lot of motion.

You are just steps away from the pool and buffet, and close to the elevator to take you to the lower decks' activities.

L202 appears to be a mini-suite. Plenty of room and a full sized bathroom with a full sized bathtub. It's up front so you may get some more motion than others during the cruise. I've been way up front on two cruises and although I enjoyed the motion it did keep me awake and I didn't get much sleep. Ended up taking naps in the afternoon which is my routine at home anyhow.

One thing that comes to mind about checking in is get there early, don't worry about the time they assigned you, they'll check you in. I typically try to get to cruise terminals a few minutes before noon and it's been working out great. (This is for the LA terminal and San Francisco).

Another item that comes to mind is remember to do all your online check in at the website and print out your boarding pass.

I’ll post pics and review of the Escape in April.
