Alcohol on board

There are tons of articles that relate to sneaking alcohol on board a cruise ship. The rum runners flasks seem to be the safest method. This is not what I am interested in.

It seems to me that, having smuggled your contraband liquor on board, actually drinking it would be... annoying to say the least. I imagine transferring alcohol from a 32 oz. bag to a smaller personal use bag, and then having to be sneaky the whole time you are on the boat, trying to sneak and add alcohol to your sodas, etc., which, by the way, you have to pay for anyway.

Alternatively, I guess you have to be chained to your room. As I am a grown up, I am not interested in getting hammered. However, for alcohol to be worth the trouble, you are basically required to take a "loading dose" - for me, the equivalent of three drinks - and then a "maintenance dose" each hour thereafter during which you would like to feel the pleasant effects of alcohol consumption. It seems to me that the hassle of having to return to the room (and/or be sneaky in public) at regular intervals to maintain a decent buzz would be counter-productive. All in all, it seems as though sneaking alcohol on board is more trouble than it is worth. I am leaning toward just purchasing a drinks package so I don't have to think so hard about what I am drinking.

I am interested in any others' thoughts on the subject. Thanks in advance.

Personally I don't sneak booze on board, but when I am in ports, if I come across a rum of my liking I often will pick up a bottle or 2. Now having said that, because I have a pacemaker, they shut off the extra machine to let me through and do not usually pat me down or check my bags because I am holding up the lines, so there are many times I find myself with a bottle of rum in my cabin thinking...that was easy, LOL.

To be honest, it is not worth the hassle because going back and forth to your room is not worth saving a few bucks. Your on vacay, budget for it! :) Oh and Drink and be Merry.

Love you too my bestest cruise mate!

I can't wait susie. God has really blessed us. Thank you loard. & thank you for being you. I am so blessed. Love you always & forever.

Its simple, play in the casino & earn 1500 pts

& boom, free drinks the rest of the trip!

How in the world do they do that? I have never heard that and if it was known, I would think they would loose a ton of money of wine and fruit. Are you sure there was no charge???

Make sure you can drink 5-6 drinks a day (remembering you will be off the ship some days). I def wouldn't sneak it in.. Tip. You can get a free bottle of wine sent to your room on Royal Caribbean. Before we booked, I called with questions and the RC rep said that when we did book to request a bottle of wine or a fruit basket. I did and when we got to our room..it was there with glasses and cork screw. We enjoyed it one night watching movies

Thanks all for the input. I have decided that a drinks package is likely the best option for me. I just prefer not to have to work hard enough to make the sneaky thing work while on vacation.

I agree with most of the posters here - I don't go against the policy. If I drink, I will pay the proper price for it. (That way, I can better control my intakeBig Smile)

One of my friends did smuggle Vodka in and just transferred it into a travel cup then poured it in with his lemonade. It saved him a fortune as he drinks likes a fish.
