5 Reasons for a Balcony Cabin

http://cruisefever.net/5-benefits-to-having-a-balcony-room-on-your-cruise/

I've done a porthole, OV, and balcony cabins.I typically pick a balcony for the privacy and being able to sit there and watch the ocean without having to leave the cabin.

What's your biggest reason for picking a balcony?

Agreed.

I would find it hard to cruise and not have a balcony.

We had a balcony on the last cruise. I remember sitting out and soaking up the last bit of sun before our cruise ended. If price didn't factor in I would love one each time.

The same as you. Space is a premium on ships, this gives me more "personal" space. We have the benefit of getting larger balconies and spend more time on that than in the cabin. I think I even slept on one. You get to hear the waves which is extremely relaxing to me. The breeze is another good reason. In all, I think we traveled on 1 porthole cabin before and that was it. Every other time, it had a balcony. Oh, I forgot one, we had the family suite which didn't have a balcony on the Divina so I guess that makes 2 times. We did miss a balcony last year, it was very confining but it was a large cabin so that made up for it.

I like sitting out on the balcony for a while before going to bed -- totally relaxing.

Also, while waiting for Mrs BD to finish getting ready for dinner, I'll stand at the balcony railing. staring out to the infinite sea, contemplating the meaning of life (which, by the way, is "42").

We love to have a glass of wine before dinner out on the balcony and morning coffee. However mostly we get a balcony, knowing we can open the door and go out and breath in the fresh ocean air and enjoy the views.

We have no desire to try a balcony for a few reasons. We love being outdoors with others watching the ocean, so a public deck is best. For the extra money that a balcony costs, we can use that money for gifts for our grandchildren. We spend very little time in our room, so a porthole or ocean view is right for us.

Its great that there are rooms to suit every budget and style preferred.

I like having a private outdoor area to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. But as other said it depends on the trip. For example, next time I do a Carnival 4 day R/T from Long Beach I'm just going to get an interior room. When I did the cruise in January I was only in my room for the four "S's", Sleep, shower, s---, and shave.

The view outside.

For me it depends on the # of days at sea. For the short 7 night or less trip I'm good with an interior cabin. About all I do in the cabin is sleep and shower.
