These rankings come from reviews submitted by members who took a cruise on a Celebrity ship from January-December of 2022. Ranked on a 5-point scale, members have rated the best overall Celebrity Cruises ship, ship quality, staterooms, dining, and onboard activities/entertainment.  

2022 was a big year for Celebrity Cruises. It saw the return of all the ships in its fleet back operating cruises worldwide at full capacity. They also debuted the highly anticipated ship Celebrity Beyond, the newest of the Edge class of vessels.

Our Thoughts

Number one best overall Celebrity Cruises ship Celebrity Summit surprised us at the top of the list. It’s not the newest or largest in the Celebrity fleet, making this first-place ranking not what we may have expected. We looked a little deeper and found that we had more reviews for Celebrity Summit last year than any other Celebrity ship! In 2022 Celebrity Summit spent its first-ever season homeporting from Boston for the spring/summer, calling on ports in the Northeast and Canada. It then repositioned down to Miami to sail to the Caribbean for the fall/winter months. The ship was last refurbished in 2019, so its amenities are relatively new. In the revamp, it received upgrades to staterooms and a refresh to its dining venues. 

Celebrity Edge (number two) and Celebrity Apex (number five) are among the newest and most in-demand ships in the Celebrity fleet, so we’re not surprised to see them here. These Edge-class vessels won numerous Member Choice Awards this year, wowing guests with dining, activities, and overall shipboard experience. Celebrity Equinox (three) and Celebrity Reflection (four) are older ships with recent refurbishments. These two ships are a bit smaller and older than some of their Celebrity ‘competitors’; however, based on our member reviews, they hit the mark regarding service, dining, and all-around cruise experience.

The cruising experience is pushed to the edge of the ship in the infinite balcony rooms. The pool placement and design, and the spaces at the edge of the ship, truly make you feel like you are riding on the edge of the world. - CLebJdub on Celebrity Edge

This ship’s size and layout are very easy to navigate once you get the lay of the land. I never once felt overwhelmed or confused about finding the venues or activities I wanted to reach. Our Thoughts

Celebrity Edge, Apex, and Beyond are no surprise to us at the top of the list for best in ship quality. All three of these vessels are Edge class ships, and the newest three of the Celebrity fleet. From these rankings, it's clear to see that Celebrity has really hit the mark on ship design with Edge class and have spared no expense in providing a quality and memorable experience for guests.

We really liked that the main dining was split into 4 rooms.. much less noisy and crowded and felt like a huge variety. The food was excellent as well. We typically pay for a restaurant or two on our cruises and didn’t feel like we had to on this ship. - emalcolm on Celebrity Edge

Our Thoughts

Celebrity Cruises has some of the highest-ranked eateries among mainstream and premium cruise lines. To prove this point, it came in first place this year as our Member Choice Award winner for best cruise line dining. Across the board from the included and specialty eateries, you will find exceptional dining experience elements with great food quality, memorable service, and a variety of restaurant options to suit all traveler’s tastes. 

This year’s number one for dining, Celebrity Edge, was also the winner in this same category of our 2023 Member Choice Awards for best in cruise ship dining. The vessel continues to receive high marks for its 30+ onboard restaurants and lounges, like the Mast Grill, Oceanview Cafe, Le Petite Chef, Fine Cut, and Le Grande Bistro. 

At number three, Celebrity Flora was a bit of a surprise to us only as it is such a smaller ship in the fleet. The high-end expedition vessel sails specifically in the Galapagos and has only a select number of restaurants onboard. Nonetheless, the dining experience was clearly exceptional as reported by member rankings.

Our cabin, with the innovative, balcony was the best cabin we have ever had (17 cruises total) and the bathroom was also the best/biggest. We loved the Infinite Balcony! The glass could go down; you could close it and still have a full floor-to-ceiling view; you could sit on the balcony and watch tv, you could close the window and pull the shade down making it darker for sleeping, or you could close the opaque french doors...so many options and it will be tough to go back to a regular balcony on next cruise. - Larryatthebeach on Celebrity Edge 

Our Thoughts

Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex also made the number one and two slots of the 2023 Member Choice Awards in the best staterooms category for ships, so we’re not surprised to once again see them on the top of this list. Both Edge class vessels offer 1,467 total cabins, with some of the most spacious staterooms on the market. 99% of staterooms have a king-sized bed. They each offer Celebrity’s AquaClass and several premiere suite options with access to The Retreat.  

Tiny hundredths of points differences separated numbers three through five. Celebrity Reflection was an honorable mention winner for best staterooms in the 2023 Member Choice Awards, making its ranking at number three of little surprise. The ship has 1,523 cabins in 34 cabin categories. Number four, Celebrity Silhouette, offers 1,451 cabins in 34 categories. 85% of Silhouette’s staterooms include a balcony. Number five, Celebrity Summit, got a complete overhaul of its staterooms in its Celebrity Revolution refurbishment. The ship received cabin upgrades like expanded bathrooms, premium eXhale bedding, and added storage spaces. 

Onboard Activities/Entertainment

Our Thoughts

Regarding onboard activities and entertainment, Celebrity Cruises designs its shipboard offerings and programming a little differently from other mainstream lines. Typically, the line tends to attract more of an adult crowd; however, you will still find many things for kids/teens to do onboard. There are fewer extreme activities like rock climbing walls and dual waterslides. Instead, Celebrity ships offer unique lounges and boutique venues and nooks, pools/hot tubs, spa offerings, casino games, live entertainment, and shows.  

Number one for 2023 in the onboard activities/entertainment category is the newest member of the cruise line fleet, Celebrity Beyond. This ship is meticulously designed with several new innovative spaces, unlike anything we’ve seen on other Celebrity ships. Its highlights include the Rooftop Garden, a redesigned Resort Deck, a Magic Carpet, Eden, the adults-only Solarium, and much more. For entertainment, the ship offers a new state-of-the-art theatre that has a 20-foot-tall 4K LED screen that syncs to performances. For shows, guests rave about original performances like ‘Arte’, ‘Elements’, and ‘Stage Door’. 

Fellow Edge class vessels Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex also made the top five, which was of little surprise to us. Also making the list was Celebrity Solstice, an older (yet recently refurbished) ship. Solstice’s highlights include seven bars/lounges, hot glassblowing, a Persian Garden, Lawn Club, and Broadway-style shows in the Celebrity Theatre.
