Review summary

Celebrity Apex is a wonderful ship and I highly recommend a cruise on this vessel. Great ship design, excellent food, staff, and service place Celebrity at the top of my list each time I search for a cruise.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Extremely stressful with all the Covid-19 requirements.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Celebrity never ceases to amaze with great food and drink options. The service is second to none.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Onboard activities were so numerous it was hard to keep pace. Fitness center was full service and pool areas had tons of activity.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Most impressive entertainment of any of the sixteen cruises I have taken. Each night the theater was filled with great entertainment and the musical acts located in bars around the ship were first class.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Celebrity staff goes way beyond the norm when it comes to service. Our room steward, Lino, was always trying to make our cruise more enjoyable. Waiters in the dining rooms provided five star service and food was, as usual on Celebrity, amazing.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed the new look of the Apex design. Rooms were better designed with more storage and the bathrooms, especially the shower area, roomier and far more inviting. Public areas on the ship were unique and the whole experience fun and exciting. But the martini bar was the most improved area of the ship. Moving the bar to the central location and having three levels of public area around it was a stroke of genius.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Actually got pumped up to level 8. Really well thought out staterooms on this ship. More storage for clothing, extended room space with the infinity balcony, and larger bathroom facility. Cleanliness on Celebrity is never a problem and once again our health was their number one concern. Infinity balcony has some issues but it does provide more space and the view is what it is all about. But due to air conditioning issues the window cannot be lowered most of the time and fresh sea air is not available. Too bad, I really like the sound of the sea and fresh breezes.

Ship tip

Try each of the main dining areas, it is a great experience.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
Really enjoy the water taxi around Ft. Lauderdale, restaurants are abundant and the weather is great in April.

Bimini, Bahamas

1 out of 5
This port is not ready for cruise ships. Infrastructure is not there and only beach activities exist. Not impressed and I would not return to this destination.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Loved this stop, and I learned a great deal about Belize on the Train tour of Belize City. Only drawback is the 5 mile offshore mooring of the Apex.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
I like Cozumel but the length of time the Apex was in port was weirdly short. Arrived at 7AM and left at 2:30PM. With four other cruise ships in port, this seemed a little rushed.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Took the tour of the island and enjoyed learning about the culture and business associated with the Cayman Islands. This is great stop for any cruise ship and I would gladly return.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Celebrity always does a great job of disembarkation, but this time was amazing. Everything went as scheduled and we had no issues.
