Splendor is my favorite Carnival ship!
The Cloud 9 Spa and the dining halls were my favorite parts of the cruise. I greatly enjoyed the Punchliner. I had been on the Splendor 4 times before and I noticed that there were some changes in service. I had taken my daughter, aged 32, along for her first cruise. I had expected her to receive all the same amenities and treatment that I had received the first time I cruised, which was on the Splendor. There was no champagne upon arriving in the atrium nor any champagne going around up on Lido deck! There were only 3 towel creations on this 6 night trip!. What happened to the chocolates on the pillows in the evening? Our steward did not refer to us by name the entire trip. There were no robes in the cabin. There were no complimentary toiletries in the bathroom and the mini-bar was barren. At breakfast time all of the meat items are pork-based. Some beef bacon or beef sausage would have been great.
Overall we still enjoyed this trip. My daughter had a blast. Now she is a crusin' diva!

I had been to Cozumel a few times in the past. I loved the improvements that I saw. At all three ports we did the ATV excursions. Special shout out to Eduardo and Irving on the Cozumel ATV excursion. They were excellent guide travelling to the ATV camp, during the ATV rides, to the beach, and return to the cruiseport. As guides they were attentive, they made sure everyone stayed safe and enjoyed the ride. Their ATV camp was the best of the three ports we went to. Pablo was an excellent driver for our Cozumel excursion.
Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
The port is beautiful. Mahogany Bay was wonderful. The beach there is nearly pristine. The chair lift from the port to the beach is great! Another beautiful port to cruise to. The ATV ride here was thrilling. There were many puddles, bumps, and quite a few hills to climb and descend with twists and turns. I felt this excursion had the best ATV paths. The beach resort afterwards was beautiful. I would definitely choose it as a beach excursion. Clean sand, many loungers, regularly cleaned restroom facilities. And the biggest plus.....no vendors hounding us to buy things.
Carnival Celebration
Wear your comfy walking shoes. Be prepared to walk between different venues and places to eat and be entertained. There is no way around this fact on any ship, but especially for one this size.
I loved all of the ports. Miami port is beautiful and always a lot of traffic. This can't be helped being the largest cruiseport in the country.
The port is beautiful. Costa Maya is another beautiful port. I liked the layout of things there. Our ATV excursion was fun. Be prepared for a bumpy ride. It rained the day before so there were plenty of muddy puddles to ride through. I felt that this camp had the best ATVs around by far. The open bar at the beach later was a great surprise. We werer able to place orders as we relaxed at the beach on the free chairs under the free umbrellas. Though we didn't appreciate the vendors that kept coming around to sell their wares.
Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic
I had forgotten about the long pier walk from ship to terminal building.....be ready! Prices for souvenirs were quite high. I passed on making a purchase. We rode horses on the beach! LOVED it!
Good port. Prices here were a bit high compared to the other ports. Loved the band playing music to serenade off of the ship and back onto the ship.
Bonaire, Netherlands Special Municipality
We enjoyed the ATVs here. The port was nice. I found some unusual souvenirs. The prices were reasonable.
Part of our excursion was cancelled but was refunded to us. Like the port and marketplace. Prices for souvenirs was reasonable.
Largest cruise port ever and still growing!
Carnival Horizon
Every part of the ship is enjoyable. If it's your first time on the ship as for any ship, learn forward, mid, and aft quickly. It will help you navigate around.
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
This port does not have a marketplace in the terminal. It is not like when you travel to other ports. We had to show id (each of us in the taxi), in order to enter the yards before we even got to the terminal. That was a first for us. We did not purchase an excursion for this port.
We have been to this port on a couple of other cruises. We noticed that there was not as many stores/shops in the marketplace as before. This was disappointing. We greatly enjoyed our excursion to Balmoral Beach. If this is ever a port on a future cruise we hope this excursion is still offered.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
It is private. It was fabulous that only the passengers from our ship were on the island. We loved the powder sand, the crystal blue waters, and the buffet on the beach. If there were a way to throw in some free alcohol drinks, this would be a perfect stop!!!
We did not go on an excursion here this cruise. We have been to this port before and again noticed that many shops were gone that had been there just last year.
Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic
We enjoyed this port immensely. The beach excursion we took was to a resort which was great, but we did not have even close to the advertised time to enjoy our stay at the resort. Activities and food were included, but there was not sufficient time to enjoy. Plus something needs to be done about the constant barrage of locals wanting vacationers to buy their goods and services. This greatly interrupted our limited time on the beach.
Carnival Splendor
Learn the ship's layout as soon as you can. It really is not that confusing for navigating around this ship.
You must do the Dunn's River Fall excursion!
Try the Amphibious Bus Tour.
