Review summary

This is a very great ship. We love it. I have been on it for five cruises. Cruising is a great way to enjoy so many vacation activities all included in one trip. Everyone should cruise at least once, or twice, or thrice...!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy on with picking a check-in time. There was a little congestion driving into the Fort Lauderdale terminal. Once we dropped off our bags with the porters and entered the terminal we showed our boarding passes and within minutes we were at our cabin door. We had plenty of time to drop off our carry on bags and head to the buffet to eat.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room was very good. Our wait staff - Martin, Deive, and Fernando were very attentive, always remembered out names, likes, the extras we wanted, etc.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The spa thermal suites were very good when they were working. The steam rooms had issues two days and the therapy pool had too much chlorine and not enough minerals added.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The DJ's were all great. The comedy club is a must go to. The stage performances are very entertaining. We greatly enjoyed the game shows.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our dining room staff were the greatest - Martin, Deive, and Fernando!!! Our ship steward Eduardo was okay. I only saw him once. Our cabin was always cleaned and towels were always refreshed. The bed turn-down service didn't happen twice during the cruise. There was no towel animal the first night of the cruise. We had to ask for bathrobes which we never did get.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Overall the ship was very clean. There was a long delay in dishes getting picked up from outside the cabin doors a couple of days. Carnival needs to employ more staffers to stay on top of things.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Three of us stayed used this cabin for the duration of the cruise. We had enough room for our things and clothing. There is more than enough space to stow luggage and bags. I may consider a larger room with two bathrooms next time though.

Ship tip

Learn the ship's layout as soon as you can. It really is not that confusing for navigating around this ship.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

3 out of 5
This port does not have a marketplace in the terminal. It is not like when you travel to other ports. We had to show id (each of us in the taxi), in order to enter the yards before we even got to the terminal. That was a first for us. We did not purchase an excursion for this port.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We have been to this port on a couple of other cruises. We noticed that there was not as many stores/shops in the marketplace as before. This was disappointing. We greatly enjoyed our excursion to Balmoral Beach. If this is ever a port on a future cruise we hope this excursion is still offered.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
It is private. It was fabulous that only the passengers from our ship were on the island. We loved the powder sand, the crystal blue waters, and the buffet on the beach. If there were a way to throw in some free alcohol drinks, this would be a perfect stop!!!

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
We did not go on an excursion here this cruise. We have been to this port before and again noticed that many shops were gone that had been there just last year.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We enjoyed this port immensely. The beach excursion we took was to a resort which was great, but we did not have even close to the advertised time to enjoy our stay at the resort. Activities and food were included, but there was not sufficient time to enjoy. Plus something needs to be done about the constant barrage of locals wanting vacationers to buy their goods and services. This greatly interrupted our limited time on the beach.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
The line in the terminal to get through customs winded around for what seemed like infinity. It did move at a decent pace, but it looked impossible to deal with.

Five cruises on the same ship is obviously a positive endorsement. Different itineries? or you just like the ship so much it does not matter where you travel.
