Will cruise with Holland America again but this time in a larger room. Will stick with the main dining room and Lido areas because the up-scale restaurants are not worth it. Glad I did it and will cruise with Holland America again. All in all I would give my total experience aboard the ship an 8 out of 10.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Fast, efficient and pleasant considering the personalities and caring of the staff. They got my wife's account mixed up with out traveling companions.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Found the food, even in the main dining room, to be mass produced with garnishes and 'fancy' names to make it seem extraordinary. Some of the sommeliers had no clue. The Pinnacle Grill was a disaster.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Lots to do to keep us busy. We did the spa, and computer classes.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Found that the ship's stage shows were great especially the steel band; they were great! The shows were very professional and rivals those in major tourist locations. The magician, however, I found to be amateurish.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
There was excellent, good and those that didn't seem to care. We had to almost beg to get wine glasses placed in our room every day. Everyone was polite and courteous. Toward the end of the cruise we would ask to be in a staff person's section or service area. I especially found the staff at the front desk (host stand) of the main dining room to be especially helpful, friendly, efficient and handled everyone's needs with skill and efficiency. I wish I could remember his name, but there was a tall, young boy dressed in a white coat and white cap who seemed to always be by the main dining room door; he was the most pleasant and amiable person we found on board; a definite asset.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The staff constantly tried to keep the ship clean and well maintained even considering the unkempt attitude of some of the passengers. Constantly taking care of the hull and exterior areas throughout the cruise and while in port.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Ten days is just long enough to be in a small room; next cruise it'll be larger. The room was clean and well laid out with efficiency in mind. The bed was great!
Thrilling to get up early, go to the bow and watch us enter the canal. Seeing it from afar and getting closer and closer was a lifetime thrill. We did an excursion that went through the far locks and into the Pacific; wouldn't have missed it!
Very efficient. Was out of our room and into our car in about an hour. My wife's bill was mixed up with our traveling comapnion's; it seems that they couldn't straighten it out. We had to figure it out after we got home, swapping money.
