Apathetic staff, constant marketing over PA system, ice cream at every meal...cheap food, service, demeanor. The average passenger was 80 plus. Nothing against the aged, but we were always inline behind wheelchairs and walkers. Not for anyone under 70... find anothercruise line. Not the refined atmosphere we envisioned.

The ship was very nice. The layout was good. We were on Level 3 so we were close to the dining room on Level 5 but the Lido buffet on Level 8 was a bit far but took the stairs. Elevators were slow. Loved the Dining room because you get service but you get some things you cant get in the Lido. Like different breakfasts, English Bangers, Kippers Poaches eggs with Hollandise sauce. Glad we had set seating and not open seating, because there were waits for at lest 1/2 hour for in the Open seating Dining room. Loved having the table of 8 got to meet some great people We had 8pm seating so we did not missed the ports only thing is that we missed some of the entertianment at night at 10;00pm. They have two shows 8:00pm and 10:00pm. Food was really good, had dinner at the Pinnacle Grill, worth the $20 per person. Had Lobster there. They have 22oz steaks there. Had a Great Cruise would recommend them

This is not our first cruise and with Holland America ,the experience is totally different. We'll include it on our top 5 cruise ship on our list.

this was our first time on Holland...average age was a bit older than I expected but no drunks poolside in the afternoon like Carnival...the free windows course was a pleasant surprise...it is offered on all Holland American ships. Our instructor Frank was fantastic...learned so much from him about windows live

Smaller more manageable size ship. Clean well maintained. Crew and food were exceptionally good. Service by the crew in every aspect was above average. The ports of call were very interesting with lots interesting local history and buildings to explore. The only negative was the cabin location, which was on deck 3 beside an outside door. Very noisy with people slamming the door all day long, till 1 A.M. in the morning and then starting again as early as 5 A.M. Never select a cabin next to an outside door !

The cruise was a bust,ship very uncomfortable,noisy and dirty,everyone on board was very old,lost airconditioner,toilet backed up,the lido area was not cleaned for five days ,food on deck not picked up.Hal has alot of nerve charging extra beyond other cruise lines!

The ship was extremely clean and well maintained. Everything was well located.

Zaandam is an older ship that is needs to be freshened up. Good ride and easy to get around.

We really liked this cruise a lot. Everything was great, especially the food. And the crew was very friendly and helpful. We would sail again on the Zaandam of the Holland America Lines. We also enjoyed the freedom of being able to dine wherever we felt like it. Open seating is our favorite way, because you meet people from all over the world. did an excellent job getting us a nice comfortable cabin with a large window.I definitely will book again through them. They always get me the best deals.The entertainment was good also, since we are ballroom dancers. They played nice music to dance to and even the pianist was a good singer.

My wife and I got married on the old Veendam of Holland America on December 3rd 1983 while docked at the Port of Tampa/Florida. Since then we have taken more than a dozen cruises, mostly with HAL. The food, service and entertainment on these ships is unsurpassed. Cleanliness is also impeccable. Again, on the Zaandam, our first time on this ship, we were not disappointed. From the captain down to the dishwasher, it felt like one big family

Our anticipation of this 15 day cruise on the ZaanDam was met in every expectation. We left San Diego on time seeing the beauty of the city lights. It was a pleasant surprise to find out our room was more spacious than anticipated. Lots of closet space, bathroom failities and the comfort of home. Our queen size bed was very comfortable! The elegance of the whole ship made us feel like royality. I don't think there is a time of day or night that great food was available. If casual was your desire for the day then a fantastic buffet style serving was at your finger tips. Each chef and server made your requests priority. The fine dining was equal to any high class dining in any large city. Each evening a brilliant show was performed by extremely talented performers. Games, sports, piano lounges, dancing lessons and so many more things were available to us. Yet the peaceful view of the ocean was just around the corner for those who wanted to read, rest, or just meditate on life. We are looking forward to our next cruise with Holland America and the adventures of the sea!

The ship was having some problems. Really needs to be overhauled. Understand it was going into drydock as of January.

This is a fun cruise on a top flight ship with a professional and friendly staff.

The common areas and our cabin appeared old and wear and tear was visible. Room was very noise and vibrated causing us to not sleep for two nights while ship was traveling on slow speeds. Problems with lost reservations and broken mineral tub in the spa. Rude spa staff. Piano Bar entertainment was wonderful.

The ship was great! 1400 guests is a lot of people but it didn't feel crowded with so many places to go onboard.

The ship was immaculate. Our cabin was very clean too. We had a balcony which we really enjoyed. The air conditioning didn't work, but it was taken care of very quickly. I liked wandering about the ship, looking at the different locations. There was a casino, a library, various bars, restaurants, shops, etc. I attended a talk on art which I enjoyed. I also used the gym many times and I particularly liked the huge windows in the gym which afforded a marvellous view. It was very clean too, by the way. The food was tasty. There were lots of salads and fresh fruits as well. We celebrated my birthday and our 35th wedding anniversary onboard at the restaurant on both formal nights. We were presented with delicious cakes and were serenaded by the waiters. It was really a very special time.

This ship and cruiseline went beyond or expectations. We cruised to Alaska 10 years ago and loved it. We expected to enjoy this trip but it was even better and exceeded our expectations. The ship is really lovely, very nice crew, lots of activities offered and very comfortable and roomy staterooms. You can't ask for more!!

A very bad service, could not dock, did not get to see Alaska as we payed for.

We have been on over 20 cruises on most of the cruiselines. This was the best. The entertainment wasa great, food was excellent, service was impeccable. The tour prices were very expensive, but the best we have seen on any cruise. We saw whales, eagles, sea otters, porpoises, salmon, sled dogs and glaciers. It is an older crowd, but even the multiple children whowere on board had a great time. Microsoft Computer classes is a new and taught ypu how to take digital pictures, get them into the computer and edit the pictures and then print them or download to web We absolutely loved this cruise!!!!!!!

This was a 15 day cruise to Hawaii from San Diego , we had good weather in all the islands until we got to Kauai. In Kauai we hit a storm the ship was rocking and rolling, the Captain waited for 3 hours and then decided we would not be able to dock the ship in Kauai.
