Very good value, I would have given 5 stars for everything but our extremely small interior stateroom. by Cruiser478

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ships staff was excellent, the Captain very visible.  The entertainment was top notch, way beyond expectations.  Food in the Aquarius dining room was delicious, but a little repetitive in the Windjammer.  The ports of call were interesting, though a little brief except for Curacao.

Our only negative comment would be the size of our interior cabin.  Only about six inches between one side of the bed and the vanity, and the shower was very tight.  We've been in interior staterooms before and didn't have any problem.

The public spaces were beautiful, but the cabins a little dated.  We had friends who had a suite and even that was dated looking.

Small Ship with lots to do by steencondo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Just completed a 10 day cruise on the Vision of the Seas. If you like smaller ships and looking for a lot of fun this is the ship for you. Everything was almost perfect. There was always something to do.

vision of the seas review by wyliecoyote001

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Itinerary was great; ship very nice, but my time dining was unorganized - very disappointing.  Many complaints heard around the ship about same problems with my time dining experience.  Did notice some corner cutting by Royal Caribbean.

Fabulous Itinerary, Tired Ship by gclark3674

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I have been cruising around the Caribbean for over 45 years and this was the first time I've been to Bonaire.  Those I spoke with who did the "around-the-island" tour seemed to truly enjoy it, although the weather was hot (90+).  Of course, Aruba and Curacao were beautiful as always.

The Vision of the Seas could use some upgrades - old carpet, old bathrooms, old pillows and mattresses.  The bathroom sink in our cabin had been replaced with one that sat 6-8 inches above the counter and almost touching the faucet - very awkward.  Our cabin (3046) was very small in comparison to others in the same category.  No sofa, just a very worn chair.  The pillows were awful.  Had there been a convenient Walmart, we would have bought our own pillows.  The beds were lumpy as well.  I would have preferred a deck chair.

The staff on the ship was wonderful - all of them.  The food on the ship was fantastic!  This was one of the most attentive groups of people we've ever had on a cruise.  The captain was always walking around the ship meeting people, having his picture taken, even putting on a show for us (twice) with his singing talents including a solo of "I'll be watching you".  And he's young and handsome besides.Love

I will definitely do this itinerary again next fall.  And take my own pillow.

9 Night Vision of the Seas from Tampa by lvickinovac

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ports of call were beautiful as usual. The ship was very old and outdated, showing lots of wear. Our cabin was very dusty, especially at the refrigerator grates. There were roaches present in our cabin. The food quality was definitely an issue for most passengers that we spoke to including myself and my spouse. It was second rate...

There was no food available after 10pm that was healthy. There were never any cookies. In fact, they were always hidden if available at all. The service was really inadequate. Not what I have come to expect from RCCL!!!

Our spa treatments were fabulous.

Joseph,  We are not happy with Royal Caribbean. Some issues: 1 expensive drink packages 2 cabin- poor layout, tiny shower,no shampoo or body wash dispensers, dining room- long slow lines, mediocre food quality and much more. We probably will do Carnival in the future.  Steve Merriman

Almost a very good cruise by jmcguire2d

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our aft cabin was smaller than expected but the large balcony was wonderful.

Very loud music in the Evening Lounge of Diamond Club on deck 6 ran until 3am each day at an audio level of a jet engine - the thump-thump-thump of the audio amps kept us awake. No reason for such hing amp settings. RCI needs to discipline its audio outputs in those rooms also on deck 9 where the setting is excessivly high.

No music channel in our cabin, and we missed it. Other ships now offer user-selectable music oiptions.

Terrible Internet service - no better than dial-up bandwidth of the 1980s. RCI touts bow-to-stern WiFi on this ship but that is very misleading.  It should not take 15+- minutes togin (one day it was 4o+ minutes - I just gave up), or 9 minutes to download a 1.6MB file, or 20 minutes to upload a similar file. We wil not book on RCI again withour confirmation that broadband Internet service is available.

Was a great cruise.  Enjoyed all the ship had to offer as well as a great crew.  It was a lot of new crew, but the were able to get it together by the end.  Wish it have a larger pool, but enjoyed it.

overall rating of my cruise by mimajujhan3

My overall trip was excellent. I have nothing negative to say about the service I received. My most pleasurable time was dinner when I was attended by two of your most wonderful servers (Ante Jurjevich and Raymundo Garay Fonseca).

Sailing on the Vision of the Seas by Cruiser934

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

The Vision is an older ship and Royal Caribbean is trying hard to keep it together.  The food was great and the itinerary was wonderful!  But, RCCL has made decisions that detracted from our pleasure.  No refrigerators in the staterooms; no shampoo/soap in the bathrooms; the internet was outrageously expensive (and almost no service); drinks were considerably more expensive; and the entertainment was the worst I've seen on any cruise.  It is unlikely I will sail on Royal Caribbean again.

Bob's Review Of Vision by boblink

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

As always, this was a wonderful Royal Caribbean cruise.  From top to bottom RCCL has hired top-notch people to be crew members.  I found Captain Marek to be very approachable throughout the cruise.  As a retired TWA captain I understand the concept of being approachable.  However, I am letting you know that the crewmember who really impressed me was Nitre Salapunya.  He was the bartender in the Some Enchanted Evening Lounge during the 3 1/2 hour period when Diamond and above members of the C & A Society get free drinks.  I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio on the day we set sail and he remembered that for the rest of the 15 night cruise.  I didn't have to ask him for a drink. He knew what I wanted.  That impressed me very much.

Great way to get a taste of the Mediterranean area. by nzastrow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Depending on where you are coming from you may really wish to plan on an extra pre-sailing day to get into the time change and recoup your body to fully enjoy this great cruise. Time change from California was 9 hours, but took 21+ hours of travel time to get there. Took Turkish Airlines Business Class, was fantastic! Cruise was very nice, ports of call were very interesting, especially for the history buffs. Go prepared with Euros, exchange can cost you, and almost every stop requires them. Excursions are expensive, no matter what, so plan on it. Ship excursions were ok, but we also did Italytoursharing.com for Rome and Salerno(Naples) as we wanted to have a car for 9 hours and be able to direct our course. We choose Herculaneum over Pompeii as it is smaller ( you still can't cover it all in one day), and it is far better preserved and less tourist ( Our tour guide was excellent and included with the cost of the car). Drivers were great! Late Sept. or early Oct. good time to travel. A little rain in Rome, but the major tourist season is over and the crowds were smaller and temps. were comfortable. With the short day trips to these areas, you will find the place(s) that you will want to return to for longer direct visits. Enjoy!!

Vision of the Seas is a real vision by ibitenskiy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The cruise was excellently organized. Shows were good. However I think night noisy entertainments should be arranged in places other than Centrum. The Centrum should be given to more quite performances. Besides Fountain of the Strings should not play in a bar where music is sinking in common noise.

Expensive add ons by rambinlinda641

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

the itinerary was wonderful   We were also pleased with the staff.   On the downside.  Their were no toiletries in the cabin.   All the drinks were expensive and their was no drink of the day.  Drink packages and wifi packages were not offered on a daily bases.   Shuttle fees were not included.  We were usually miles away from town with little options.  Lines for shuttle were terrible no organization. People just broke in line due to lack of busses. Entertainment needs updating.   Most nights it just took up time.

Great Cruise by nicholasrodites

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We boarded the Vision of the Seas in Barcelona, Spain. The ship is small enough so that the boarding, Meals, and disembarking processes are very easy. The food was good and the staff were very helpful. My only issue was that the excursions were listed as strenuous and people with walkers and wheel chairs still signed up which slowed us all down and we missed Pisa.

12-Day Mediterranean Cruise August 8-20, 2015 by gmarino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

It was wonderful.  The advantage of booking the Suite was 10-star, i.e., access to the Concierge Lounge and our personal "Concierge" was priceless - he was like a friend!

...not crazy about the Cruise Director - she had an irritating loud, voice, she should take it down just a notch!!!  (I know, this is sounds a little petty)

(FYI ... I credit Lexi Garcia with providing us with over the top knowledge of all travel info I could possible ask for - she's unbelievable and I hope I will be able to only arrange all my future travel plans with her)

Very good but could be improved by johncanessa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ship stopped at most of the right destinations.  Some stops could have been longer.  The crew provided excellent service.  The staterooms were adequate and very well maintained and serviced.  The food from the buffet to the specialty restaurants was very good.  Made new acquaintances mostly during excursions and sitting at the same table in the main restaurant.  Excursions were very nice.  On occasions guides could have done a better job.

On the down side (that is why excellent is a goal) the Internet was very slow.  Seemed that Royal Caribbean was nickel-and-diming passengers.  The drink packages could be redone with fewer options providing additional value.

A nice cruise! by VernonCT06066

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This is not the best or newest ship on the seas but it was a very nice trip for 12 days. I think where this ship stands out is the staff. The entertainment director, Mercedes, was very nice. They had good trivia and a lot to do onboard and most of the staff was very accommodating.

The negatives - my travel agent told me they had laudry facitilies on this ship. They don't. I found out none of the RC ships do now. Instead they overcharge you to have a Tshirt washed. The nickel and diming onboard as well can be a bit extreme but is pretty  normal for cruising. The wifi was $20 a day which could be worse I suppose but for 12 days for a cruise we had a $240 wifi bill.

The ship was clean but our stateroom had a strange smell to it and the stateroom attendant, while nice, wasn't really that great.

The excursions were okay with the exception of the shuttle boat to Venice. It was $28 RT per person per day - and was about 105 degrees. One guest had complained that his son was throwing up from the heat and the motion of the boat.
