Covid-19 has definitely laid down big challenges for the cruise industry, but Viking have the most robust and thorough health screening on board. Feel assured that your health and well being is of upmost importance to them.

Don’t take a Viking cruise if buffets, partying and tons of energy is what you want. If you want high quality customer centric attention you won’t find a better value than Viking. They are an awesome team.

Get your favorite beverage and bring it on board. Beats the cost of the beverage package and Viking allows it.

If you are doing the In Search of the Northern Lights cruise, just be aware of the cold, harse conditions you may encounter. Dress in layers, have foot, toe, hand warmers available. Have good warm boots, hats and gloves. Roads and paths off the ship WILL be snowy and icy! We were fortunate and did see the elusive lights 5 nights in a row. Enjoy this adventure!

Avoid sailing to northern Norway in winter. Weather impacted at least 4 cruises that we are aware of this season, including this one that had Alta and Tromso cancelled..

If you are traveling with friends or family, you will need to know their cabin number to book speciality restaurants before the cruise. We were not aware of this so had to untangle a bunch of reservations in order to eat with our friends. An unnecessary frustration. We did find it fairly easy to sort this out once we were on the ship.

Do your research and know what do you expect? A good idea would be to look at YouTube and other places. Know that this is a very quiet Cruise. Or certainly ours was… for me, bordering on boring.

You spend a lot of time on buses, especially the last port of Ravenna, 2 1/2 hours each way to Venice and then back again the next day to fly out. This port needs to be re-thought
