Review summary

A wonderful cruise with a premier cruise line who've met the challenge of Covid-19 without compromising quality and enjoyment. Once you've cruised Viking, you'll never go back. The best Rest, Relaxation and Reset we've ever experienced.

Embarkation

The airport in Malta was a very easy process. First you have Passport screening, followed by Covid-19 vaccination document checks. You must also have a passenger locator form. We passed through the airport in less the 15 minutes. The airport is very organised and the Maltese authorities should be commended. Viking representatives are all over the airport and outside the building from the moment you arrive. At the luggage carousels they meet you and tell you where to go. Then follows a line of Viking staff showing you to the bus. After a 15 minute journey your bus arrives at the port of Valletta and here you arrive in beautiful stone building for medical screening questions and a temperature check. Then you are provided with your contact tracing lanyard and the key cards to your room. The whole process took less then 10 minutes before we entered the ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Truly exceptional service from all on board the Viking Venus. On our cruise (24th July 2021), there was only 136 passengers and we were completely outnumbered by crew. Polite, courteous and friendly and always on hand.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Viking Venus is a brand new ship and it's interior is refined and full of Nordic accents and history around the ship. Where other cruise lines are full of brash Gold, Chrome and vivid colours, the Venus offers Scandinavian elegance at its best. There is always somewhere to sit and the seating areas are wonderful with many types of seating style available. The ship is spotlessly clean and easy to navigate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was the most basic cabin available, but don't let this fool you into thinking that it was below par. The largest bathroom and shower we've ever seen on a cruise ship. Clean, crisp linens, robes and slippers and a large balcony. Really a wonderful cabin all round.

Ship tip

These test cruises are a learning curve for Viking and our cruise was only the 2nd Adriatic cruise go leave Malta. Covid-19 has definitely laid down big challenges for the cruise industry, but Viking have the most robust and thorough health screening on board. Feel assured that your health and well being is of upmost importance to them.

Glad you enjoyed it. Your experience is the exact opposite of another recent reviewer on a different Viking ship.
