It was a wonderful cruise! The ship is wonderful! So much excellent food! So much to do on board! My only complaint is that there was too little time in port. You spend hours getting there (mostly while you sleep), but then spend relatively little time in port. So, it is a sampling. You can decide where you want to go back to.

OMG! So much delicious food! There were two "main" restaurants (one buffet, one table service) and two specialty restaurants reuiring reservations (one with a set menu and one with a menue to order from). All were wonderful! In addition, there was a pool bar with "casual food made to order" and room service. All were delicious! The restaurant food was excellent but I was particularly impressed wiht the pool bar (because my expecttions were lower for it). Room serivce was prompt (i.e., with the 15 minute window requested).

Lots to do! Teh nightloy shows at 9:00 were especially nice, but they had lovely live music in the atrium at various times of the day.

Ship tip
We did the included tours and none of the optional tours. If you plan to do optional tours, consider booking them independently, i.e., not with Viking. The optional tours seemed very expensive. Several people we met on board indicated they did independent tours for MUCH less than Viking was charging for the comparable tour.
We actually went to Marseilles rather than Toulon. Viking changed itinerary. Marseilles was not that esciting. Toulon was probably about the same, from what I have read.
Seriously consider taking the excursion to Pompei. We wish we had. Or, consider taking the excursion to Pompei and the other, less-known city. Can't remember the name!
Venice is a wonderful destination of course. Btu too little time there. Ship docked t noon. Our included excursion was a 3:00. Suitcases had to be packed and outside the door by 10:00 pm.
