Review summary

We know weather was raining and windy, but to miss 3 ports is not very good for only a 9 day cruise ! We wonder why could the MSC cruise ship get into the ports on the days we could not get in, is the MSC a better more stable ship ? should we have taken their cruise ? Excursions on Viking Star - very short and quality is poor, with little value, even the ones that are extra fees. 40 plus guests are TOO many on included and those with an extra charge !! We will need to understand if there is a problem with the Viking Star or the captain, before we consider travel on it again. Hotel and Food & Beverage were OK.

Venice, Italy

very rough seas, excursions were canceled, great city but hard to enjoy !!

Koper, Slovenia Did not visit port

The captain did not feel safe entering this port, he claimed weather - BIG disappointment for us, yet the MSC cruise ship went into the port.

Zadar, Croatia Did not visit port

The captain did not feel safe entering this port, he claimed weather - BIG disappointment for us

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Wonderful city, Excursion was poor- 42 people on an excursion is too many. Our local guide was excellent, but hard to manage any quality time due to this many guests

Kotor, Montenegro

2 out of 5
We did an optional excursion and paid extra for 40 plus guests excursion. Way over priced for this excursion, took us to a church and small town and let us walk around. Our local guide was just OK, not helpful at all. Missed any value

Corfu, Greece

2 out of 5
We choose the included tour since we were so disappointed with the optional tours. Again, 40 plus guests on our excursion, city is nice, but did not get much information from our local guide.

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece Did not visit port

The captain did not feel safe entering this port, he claimed weather - BIG disappointment for us, yet the MSC cruise ship went into the port.

Santorini, Greece

2 out of 5
Great city, but 40 plus guests on an excursion are way too many and we paid extra money for this "Best of Santorini" excursion, it was not an included one !!!

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

2 out of 5
We chose the included tour, we drove around city in a bus, our guide told us little about the city/country. we got dropped off at Plaka, and were given time to shop. we stayed in Athens for 3 days on our own, had a great tour of Acropolis and Parthenon - it is a shame Viking did not offer this type of tour, how do you visit Athens and not see this site ?

Disembarkation

Very well organized, we were independent travelers with our own transportaion

This is a small ship and it may have been difficult in the given weather . Larger ships are more stable. Read T&C. Ports can be missed for unsafe conditions
