Deck 3 is an excellent value and great location on the ship as long as you pick a room over a quiet place like the dining room or theater.

Don't buy the silver package. Not worth it unless you are very particular about your wine choices.

The majority of people on a Viking Cruise are older (70ish) but there are also plenty of younger (50ish) people. Plan to stay pre cruise and post cruise so you have enough time to explore these cities. And book everything through Viking - they will take care of you in case anything happens to disrupt travel.

Don’t book a post extension, although our tour leader was excellent. The hotel was not. Outdated, homeless people sleeping out the entrance. Also significantly less expensive than the hotel that they were supposed to use.
