Review summary

This is the best vacation we have ever taken! So easy and luxurious! Being able to see so many wonderful places - some that we would not have known about without taking an excursion with Viking - while staying in such a lovely room with excellent options for dinner. It was like a floating 5 star hotel. Being taken care of meant that both of us were able to truly relax. I can't wait to take another cruise with Viking Ocean.

Embarkation

Very smooth. Viking representatives met us a baggage claim and directed us to the bus that took us to the ship. Our luggage was taken to our room and everything was ready at the time our room was ready. So easy, especially after a long flight.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Incredible food at every venue! The specialty restaurants are amazing but so is the buffet and the pool buffet. So many choices and great wines and I appreciated the use of local food and offering local cuisine.

Onboard Activities

The spa is phenomenal! We spent so much time off the ship exploring the ports that we did not book services at the spa but we did enjoy the sauna, steam room, snow grotto and vitality pool! So rejuvenating after days spent walking.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We didn't attend any of the nightly shows but did enjoy the guitarist who accompanied a special meal on the terrace one night. He was fantastic and had everyone signing along.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The best service I have every experience including service at 5 star hotels. Viking must treat their employees well because they all seem to enjoy their jobs!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
After COVID, I was hesitant to take a cruise but the ship was immaculate! I felt so comfortable coming back to a clean room and ship every day.

Cabin / Stateroom

Very well designed rooms so that there is a place for everything. And having a balcony is a must for me so you can see the sunrise every morning. The beds were luxurious, the heated floor in the bathroom is great and the makeup mirror in the desk is a great surprise!

Ship tip

The majority of people on a Viking Cruise are older (70ish) but there are also plenty of younger (50ish) people. Plan to stay pre cruise and post cruise so you have enough time to explore these cities. And book everything through Viking - they will take care of you in case anything happens to disrupt travel.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

We visited Park Guell and the Sagrada La Familia. Very crowded even in late September but worth it. No other art and architecture like it!

SETE (MONTPELLIER), FRANCE

Loved this sweet port town. We did a brief tour and then walked around on our own. One of my favorite spots.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

Where else can you see such history, gardens, architecture, luxury cars and yachts? This is an unforgettable stop.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

We visited Vinci and Lucca and loved both. Lucca will always have a piece of my heart - an ancient walled city that is filled with such warm people and fantastic food!

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
We did the post cruise stay in Rome and ended up with an extra day due to a cancelled flight. Viking was great helping us reschedule the flight and find a room for the extra night. And exploring Rome was wonderful - exceeded all expectations.
