Review summary
My Wife and I were very disappointed! First one port in Mexico was cancelled before we sailed and we were notified a day before when in fact, the port had been canceled three weeks prior we later found out and we were not notified. We were late by over 4hrs. boarding the cruise because of mechanical problem on the ship. Which again, the company knew bout but didn't inform us. We sailed with issues on The Veendam not resolved. Ship is run down and in bad shape. The final straw was when our last Port of Call. Cabo San Lucas was cancelled. Two places we were really looking forward to going to CANCELLED!!! We were at sea for 5 days in a row!!! Over half of the cruise at sea!!! NOT WHAT WE SIGNED UP FOR!!! To make matters worse no monetary compensation off the cruise for our ruined vacation that we were looking forward TO ALL YEAR! Just a measly20% off Next cruise!!! Most older passengers said this was their last cruise after sailing with Holland America for years! The standards have really gone down to Carnival levels. The company has ruined the line. We do not plan to ever sail with them again! If you want to sign up for a vacation based on where you are going I would advise against this line because THEY DON'T DELIVER WHAT IS PROMISED IN THE Itenary and the trust is broken.

Ship tip
The Company needs to restore its high Holland America reputation and maintain their ships and be true to what was promised when the guest pays his hard earned money for a cruise vacation
