Review summary

Brief overview-it was a disaster, Valiant Lady is not so valiant!

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Awful, Virgine Voyages, Valiant Lady does little to nothing to help handicapped or elderly passengers. I asked for a wheelchair so I could use the restroom. I waited for assistance in the embarkation room for over an hour. I finally got help only when my wife demanded help from security to get me to a restroom. Unfortunately, it was too late and the most embarring moment of my life. And the trip only got worse from there.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food is rich and hard to digest for the elderly in some of the specialty restaurants. Food allergies were a constant issue. However, the restaurants were very luxurious. Would have been nice to have a few items on the menus for the elderly and those with sensitive digestions issues. The galley was good. The bar tab was a waste for us, as we are not drinkers. Woulds have been nice to be able to convert it to loot, but that would have a negative effect on the ship's bottom line.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Obviously, the cruise was not for the elderly or handicapped as there were little to no appropriate activities for us.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Obviously, the cruise was not for the elderly or handicapped as there was little to no appropriate entertainment for us. However, most of our time was spent in isolation due to COVID.

Children's Programs

No childern

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Widi, our room steward, was wonderful and he did all he could to comfort us. We spent 4.5 days on our 7-day cruise in self-isolation sick with COVID.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship is built well. However, there were no COVID procedures in place and it ran rampant on the ship. Some of the passengers were in guarantee by the ships medical staff, but most of us self-isolated, when we started to see others with symptoms. BTW my wife went to the ships medical staff and was tested for COVID, and it came back negative. She was told her illness was allergies. However, our COVID test showed positive. Which leads us to believe the Virgine Voyages Valiant Lady is not so valiant after all. We are sure they do not want to address COVID outbreaks on their ships or make them known to the ships’ general population so precautions could be taken. Shame on them for putting people at risk so they could increase the profit margins.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Comfort and size was great. Howerver, we were told the staff did clean but did little to nothing to sanitize the rooms between cruises. This was evident when we were expected to disembark by 10:30 AM so new passengers could embark by 2:30 PM. This places new passenger boarding at risk entering contaminated rooms. We were fortunate enough to have a balcony to get away from the contamination in our room. As it seemed the more time, we spent in the room the sicker we got. Like I stated earlier, this was a disaster from the beginning!

Ship tip

Don't go! This ship is a petri dish for COVID and who knows what else.

You mentioned all the cruise ship ports are tourist traps. Well you were a tourist on vacation! By definition a location set up for tourists on vacation is a tourist trap. That's the facts of life

I would recommend in the future if you have access to YouTube watch some YouTube videos about the ship you're planning to go on. Doing this you may have noticed virgin voyages was not for you and decided on a different cruise line. That caters more to the senior crowd like Holland America , celebrity or princess.

I encountered the same kind of poor treatment as someone who is disabled when I embarked on our last voyage with Virgin. Their staff in Miami really needs to be retrained on how to handle issues with those with disabilities instead of ignoring the person and hoping they just go away. I am sorry to hear you did not have a good trip. We are scheduled for Valiant Lady in November so hopefully they get their act together by then.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but it sounds like maybe VV isn't the right cruise line for you.

Your embarkation experience sounds terrible, sorry you had to go through that. The rest of your issues sounds like maybe Virgin just not the cruise line for you, hope you enjoy other cruises better.
