I loved this cruise! Symphony is a great ship with all the bells and whistles but I think I still like the smaller ships. I'll definitely cruise on other Oasis class ships if their itinerary is of interest to me. My first cruise was on Vision of the Seas in 2016 on a Mediterranean cruise to the Greek isles. It was amazing and the ship was just the right size.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had the Key package so we went from curb to ship in less than 15 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Didn't do any specialty dining or the Windjammer buffet. Ate in main dining room for dinner and for breakfast. Lunch was at El Loco Fresh (great nachos!) or Park Cafe (roast beef sandwich was really good).
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There were a lot of onboard activities for us but we (group of 6) hung out and did our own thing with exploring the ship and sitting out on deck on sea days. We did the digital scavenger hunt and won! We found all 12 items in 15 minutes. We also did the escape room and was able to solve the clues with 3 minutes left on the clock.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Hairspray and Flight were really good but Hiro was the overall favorite.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Every staff member we encountered was happy to be there and very happy to be of service. Not once did we experience any negative vibes.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
They are constantly cleaning the ship. The ship was clean. The only downside is the hand sanitizer stations were always empty. Very few has sanitizer in them.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had an inside balcony on the Boardwalk. The room was great. Loved the shower pods! No shower curtains to stick to skin. During the day we could hear the sounds of the boardwalk with the balcony door closed but it was not disturbing at all. At night with the balcony door closed the noise level was quiet. No complaints about the noise level.
Ship tip
Take your time to get to know your way around the ship. Be prepared for crowded elevators at all times of the day/night.
Not a lot to do in Roatan. We did an excursion that took us on a tour of the island. Seeing how the Houndurans live makes one appreciate what we have at home.
The captain attempted to dock the ship at two different piers but the swells kept coming inside the ship when the gangway door was opened. He decided to not risk anyone getting injured so we had an extra sea day.
We did the Salsa, Salsa, & Margarita excursion. Loved it and got a little buzzed while learning how to make 5 different types of salsa. Having unlimited margaritas help everyone to have the courage to learn how to salsa dance. Fun times!
The island is looks huge in all of the publicity photos, but it's really a small island that can be walked in about 20 minutes. I didn't like the fact that the water slides and the wave pool cost money to enjoy them. The entire island should be included in the cost of the cruise.
We had the Key program and disembarking was a breeze! We had a nice breakfast only for the Key participants and then was escorted off the ship by a crew member. Quickly found our luggage in a special area for Key members. A porter was there waiting for us and walked us through to passport control where they just scan your face. He took us to a section of the port where we could get our Uber ride to the airport. It took us less than 15 minutes to go from ship to ride sharing section. We were able to cut through all of the lines because of the Key program.
There's an escape room on SYMPHONY OF THE SEAS ? Did it on ANTHEM it was too many aloud in the room it was about constellations it was disappointing and I had never done one before
Haven't been to the refurbished Cococay yet, but if it were included, the lines would be even more ridiculous. Plus, I'm sure that Royal expected "us" to speed up the return on "their" investment. Glad that you enjoyed your cruise overall, and thanks for sharing your experience.
